Examples of interesting problems we are working on:
Quantifying the trade-off between shipping speed and service cost for eBay sellers. Sometimes sellers decide to switch to a slower shipping service to reduce costs, but that also reduces buyer conversion. How should this trade-off feed into our shipping service recommendations?
When sellers print shipping labels on eBay, they get a preferential shipping rate that eBay has negotiated with major carriers. That could reduce shipping charges paid by buyers or improve eBay’s profit margins. We look for ways to increase shipping label adoption of eBay sellers.
Improving prediction accuracy of package weights and dimensions for shipping recommendations to sellers.
Optimize routing for packages to our international shipping, authentication or fulfillment centers.
