As a Senior Accessibility Specialist in the Digital Accessibility Testing Team , you will execute tests daily and serve as a subject matter expert for the broader team. In addition to testing, you will assist with documentation, training, and collaboration with our partners. You will be passionate about accessibility in the digital space, work independently, and have strong communication skills. You will display a broad knowledge of barriers, along with tools and techniques for overcoming them.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform all testing activities for initiatives across one or more assigned projects against a robust process with thorough documentation
- Collaborate with our partners by discussing defects and offering solutions ranging from design, entry in a CMS, and high-level code guidance
- Participate in review of standards, tools, and processes
- Create documentation as needed
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 3+ years of quality assurance experience (system testing, planning / coordinating test activities, overseeing test case development and defect resolution, use of ALM or JIRA), knowledge of current accessibility standards, and ability to test against them.
- Demonstrate experience driving accessibility in digital, customer-facing programs
- Knowledge of accessibility standards including WCAG 2.1, ADA, Section 508, and the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act
- Experience in accessibility on all the following platforms, and familiarity with a broad range of others: Web accessibility on Windows and macOS, Web Mobile accessibility on Android and iOS and Native Mobile accessibility, Video and other digital media
- Broad knowledge of digital assistive technologies (i.e. JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Experience in WAI-ARIA, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript related to accessibility failures.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills required
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and attention to detail. Ability to work independently, in a team, and with or without direction is imperative
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Human Computer Interaction, or a related discipline.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- UAT and/or accessibility testing or developing for accessibility
- Familiar with CMS – AEM a plus.
- Designing for Accessibility experience is plus.
