Design Engineer for Interior Soft Trim and Thermal Systems

  1. The Engineering Design team is seeking a dynamic individual to join as a key member who will be responsible for designing Interior Soft Trim and Thermal Systems components, based on functional requirements and system architectures; this includes the execution of different custom components to support carpets (Front and Rear), insulators (Heat, NVH, etc.) and refrigerant and coolant fluid transport components (Condenser, Compressor, Evaporators, Heat Pumps, etc.), including their respective connection lines. Our department's goal is to deliver innovative solutions efficiently without compromising on feasibility and quality standards. As a part of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design process from concept to implementation, actively engaging from the initial stages to launch events like DCVs, TTs, PPs, and more. Your role will also involve contributing to continuous improvement projects and fostering innovation within the organization.
  1. Specific Description:
    • Operates in CATIA V5 (or similar: 3DX, NX, SolidWorks, etc) / Teamcenter / Vismockup with speed and efficiency to creates and manage robust, parametric and associative B2P parts.
    • Generates quality 3D CAD concepts and alternatives in a timely manner.
    • Creates/manages assemblies, drawings, motion files etc., as well as vehicle environment with complete system interfaces.
    • Able to locate and manage BOM structures and Release process.
    • Seeks system interfaces and identifies incompatible designs with virtual validation tools.
    • Drives for resolution on compatibility, feasibility, and functionality issues, working directly with tool shops and suppliers.
    • Understands feature partitioning and Automotive systems to work directly with extended PD Engineering team and resolve feasibility, attribute, and functional issues.
    • Applies automation tools as applicable, such as IPS and others.
    • Awareness of Foundation/Core Tools (DFMEA, SCCAF, 5D's).
    • Design per functional requirements and design rules to meet GPDS deliverables using applicable CAD methods/FECDS standards.
    • Knowledgeable relative to Body Interior Soft Trim and Thermal Systems requirements.
    • Deep understanding of automotive design environment relative to systems and sub-system levels.
    • Proactively identifies/develops/deploys efficiency ideas (tool and/or process improvement).
    • Asks relevant and applicable questions and raises valid concerns.
    • Communicates in a clear and concise manner with an adequate level of detail.
  1. List Selection Criteria
    • Engineering degree on Automotive, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics or related disciplines.
    • Work experience in the design/CAD area (automotive industry background preferred but not essential)
    • Engineering knowledge of Mechanical, Structural, Materials and GD&T concepts. CAE basic knowledge as desirable.
    • Knowledge on Core Tool skillset (DFMEA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, Systems Engineering)
    • Knowledge on Catia V5, Team Center, Vismockup, WERS, FEDEBOM, E2KS & Analytics
    • Interior Soft Trim and Thermal Engineering fundamentals (Interior molding and Materials, NVH, Air Handling, Refrigerant and Coolant Sub-Systems)
    • Systems Engineering approach.
