What to Expect

The Process Engineer will implement, develop, and optimize production methodologies in the manufacturing operations. This engineer will be responsible for optimizing product flow though the factory from process optimization that may include tool /fixture selection, line layouts, ergonomic study, material presentation, and other relevant factors. They will interface with design, test, and quality engineering to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and implement continual improvement. They will sustain products with cost reduction and yield improvements. In addition, the process engineer will work with quality to compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.

What You’ll Do
  • Standardize manufacturing process requirements for seat assembly
  • Takes a leadership role in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) team to ensure early manufacturing consideration in design cycle
  • Develop key KPIs, such as Quality, Safety, Rate, Downtime, and Manpower requirement; set targets and drive projects to meet those targets from the product conception phase to the production launch
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by characterizing and optimizing existing processes, reducing waste by the utilization of lean manufacturing tools and concepts such as value stream mapping, line balancing, waste reduction, etc.
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing Eng., Design Eng., Quality Eng., and other teams to define, qualify, and track new processes and all associated work instructions, equipment, tools, materials, and training
  • Championing PFMEAs and Control Plans
  • Ensure processes provide a high level of safety and ergonomic compliance
  • Develop specifications to assist in process improvement, including assembly equipment, storage equipment, and standard and specialized line display equipment
  • Understand process capabilities through critical data analysis and in depth understanding of the product
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electric, Computer Engineering or with equilvalent experience
  • Seat assembly experience is a plus
  • 3+ years of previous high-volume manufacturing or vehicle assembly experience
  • Hands-on skills with hardware, tools, instruments, general electromechanical systems
  • Understanding of pre-determined motion of time studies
  • Have a demonstrated track record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness improvement activities, Lean Manufacturing Principles application, and Start of Production projects
  • Good understanding of Statistical Process Control, Factory Database Systems, Root-Cause Analysis, Data Analytics, Scripting, Database Query Development, Product Flow Optimizations, Buffer Modeling and Simulations
  • Exceptional capacity to managing and document progress of simultaneous projects and programs
