Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) of technical engineering experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mission-critical services work/applied learning experience (e.g., high availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, power utility generation facilities, or related fields).

  • Fundamental understanding of the International Mechanical Code and Uniform/International Plumbing Codes
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent experience with formal project management of large scale projects
  • Demonstrated experience with critical datacenter critical enviorment equipment
  • Technical knowledge in the operation of facility environments' various heating and cooling systems. (Centrifugal chillers, chilled water, adiabatic, thermal storage systems, Computer Room Air Conditioners, Computer Room Air Handling, etc.)
  • Experience with alternative, energy efficient water treatment methodologies and developing chemistry programs for processed water treatment
  • Understanding of maintenance & operation of critical environment backup electrical equipment. (Diesel generators, radiator, ventilation systems, fuel storage, distribution, & protection systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)

Responsibilities
  • Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft’s Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan.
  • Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements.
  • Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus.
  • Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required.
  • Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis.
  • Liaise with Microsoft construction team where Energy Isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations.
  • Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility
  • Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation.
  • Ensuring high-risk statements of work (SOWs), standard operating procedures (SOPs) and method of procedures (MOPs) are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified.
  • Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work.
  • Generate monthly reports highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation program
