What you’ll do:
- Build a software asset management program from the ground up with a focus on creating productivity and reducing complexity of applications.
- Oversee the acquisition, deployment, tracking, and retirement of all software assets. Ensure that all software usage is documented and tracked to avoid compliance risks and optimize licensing.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with software license agreements. Lead internal audits and manage responses to vendor audits. Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to resolve compliance issues.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings by optimizing software licenses and usage. Provide regular reports on license consumption, renewals, and potential savings. Assist in vendor negotiations for better pricing or terms.
- Continuously assess and improve software asset management processes, ensuring they align with industry best practices and evolving organizational needs.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on software usage, compliance status, and financial impact. Maintain thorough documentation of software license agreements, audits, and program activities.
- Work closely with IT, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of software asset management practices across the organization.
What will you need to have?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), ITIL, SAM) are a plus
- 5+ years of experience in software asset management, IT procurement, or related fields. At least 2 years in a managerial or lead role overseeing SAM processes.
- Strong understanding of various software licensing models (e.g., subscription-based, perpetual, and concurrent licenses) and related compliance issues.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret software usage data, license agreements, and audit results to make data-driven recommendations.
Extra great if you have:
- Experience with open source software
- Familiarity with ITIL and Agile frameworks
- Experience with software risk and compliance for a public, global company
