Competently perform all conventional aspects of structural engineering and analysis. Evaluate, select, and adapt engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for the design of steel and concrete structures. Exercise principles and practices of seismic design, including ability to apply required provisions of the building code. Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality control. Perform calculation checking of other engineers' work. Take responsibility for managing workload, make and keep commitments, and take full ownership of assigned work. Take complete ownership of assigned portion of the structural scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements. Clearly define assigned scope and forecast level of effort needed to complete that scope. Identify scope change and escalate it to the structural lead or project manager. Engage in leading the team of engineers and designers in the development and oversight of structural systems and taking responsibility for meeting technical and contractual requirements. Oversee a small team of engineers, assigning their respective tasks and following through with their respective reviews. Regularly coordinates with other members of the structural team and of other disciplines to ensure all structural and non-structural needs are met. Regularly meets with local department manager to review tasks and other resources needed for teammates that regularly coordinates with. Perform structural analyses and quality checks of other designers' work to ensure the accuracy and safety of designs. Provide mentoring and coaching of staff on their respective tasks in addition to guiding their current career paths.
