Our Mobile Networks Business Group is a leader in wireless mobility networks and associated services. With more than 3,500 patent families essential for 5G we have a strong 5G portfolio and are a front-runner in open and virtualized radio access networks (O-RAN and vRAN).

You will be part of our Digital Front End (DFE) ASIC team where more than 170 professionals are working on Nokia ReefShark family of System-on-Chips (SoC):

We are looking for an experienced technical expert for SoC, who has 9+ years of background in the development of ASICs. You will be working with the latest SoC-based technologies for 6G base stations. As part of your daily work, you will work with complex technical topics and ensure that the project is going on the right direction from a top-level perspective. You will be responsible for guiding the technical DFE SoC top-level content by refining the architectural requirements towards concrete microarchitecture at the top-level. An important competence is to understand the limitations and opportunities of the selected silicon node and technology. Understanding of the cellular network concepts beyond DFE SoC is also essential for success in the role.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

You will be working in close co-operation with SoC TOP Design Lead, system architects, RF organization, SW leads, project leads and other stakeholders. As a Technical Lead you will also contribute to requirements and system related technical issues at DFE ASIC department level. Contribution as a counselor for subsystem/IP microarchitecture development topics and developing future improvements is also expected. In addition, support and helping others with technical topics and problems is an essential part of the Technical Leader role. A successful candidate should be familiar with JIRA and use it efficiently for task planning, follow-up, and dependencies.

  • Derive the top-level design microarchitecture from architectural specifications and requirements.
  • Drive the DFE SoC to achieve high performance, low power, and efficient implementation.
  • Preparation and review of related microarchitecture documents i.e. user guide
  • Own the functional and design specification for SoC top-level
  • Review of SoC architecture, functional, design and verification documents
  • SoC top-level requirement management
  • Supporting SoC Design Lead in SoC content management, and effectively participating in verification and validation planning
  • Co-operate with internal customers, system engineers, architects, SoC suppliers and other relevant functions to solve technical issues for quality.
  • Review and contribute DFE SoC roadmap activities
  • Giving technical support HW/SW in bring-up
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We expect you to have

  • A strong background in architecture/microarchitecture and specification work related to ASIC
  • Strong hands-on experience from SoC development either from architecture or design side
  • Ability to understand and handle bigger entities and dependencies between them
  • Ability to see the forest for the trees in complex technical issues and explain them to project colleagues.
  • Good understanding of the SoC design flow and process.

Additional Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • A deep understanding of RTL-to-GDS development, chip integration, timing analysis and testability
  • Over 9 years working experience in SoC development or architecture
  • Expert with SoC architecture, microarchitecture, requirements, and features
  • Good knowledge of SoC design, architecture, integration, implementation, verification and founder co-operation
  • Excellent understanding of Cellular networks and 2G, 3G, LTE and 5G technology
  • Fluent spoken and written English
