You will join a dynamic, low-hierarchy team that works closely with our M&A legal practice in Helsinki, as well as with colleagues across our global network of professionals.

In 2023, we were ranked second, and in 2024 fourth, by MergerMarket for the number of legal advisory deals in Finnish transactions. Our comprehensive M&A legal practice serves corporate, private equity, and other clients on a daily basis.

Over the past year, our Competition Law practice has also established a strong presence, with a growing portfolio of significant client assignment – particularly in transactions requiring competition authority clearance.

Your key responsibilities

In your role, you will advise clients on all aspects of Finnish and EU competition law, with a primary focus on merger control assignments. You will collaborate closely with colleagues within the competition law team and across service lines and locations to support our clients in challenging transactions and a variety of other competition law matters, including antitrust, FDI, procurement, and state aid. You are also expected to take responsibility, proactively identify client and regulatory requirements, and act independently in client-facing situations – while always having the support of your team.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• At least 2–4 years of experience in competition law assignments at a law firm, in-house legal department, or competition authority
• A solid understanding of merger control procedures from start to finish
• Experience in other types of competition law matters and/or competition economics is considered an advantage
• Fluent in Finnish and English

As a Direct Tax Technology professional, you’ll bridge tax, finance, and IT, guiding clients through global reporting like BEPS and real-time reporting. You’ll collaborate with IT developers, architects, subject matter experts, and client teams. As regulations grow, businesses must gather and analyze more data, requiring changes to processes and systems. EY delivers end-to-end solutions to complex challenges, including management, sustainability, and tax reporting.

Your key responsibilities

We are seeking Senior Consultants, Managers, and Senior Managers. Responsibilities may include:

• Leading client workshops to capture requirements and document user needs.
• Creating and maintaining design documentation aligned with business objectives.
• Developing strategies for digitalizing direct tax processes.
• Advising on technical platforms for tax requirements and technology strategy.
• Analyzing direct tax regulations and translating them into technical specifications.
• Collaborating with delivery teams to deploy SAP solutions.
• Supporting client teams during user acceptance testing.
• Engaging with vendors and stakeholders for seamless integration.
• Staying informed on advancements in tax technology.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Business Administration, Taxation, Computer Science, or related field.
• Expertise in tax accounting, reporting, and direct tax (e.g., OECD Country by Country, BEPS Pillar Two / Global Minimum Tax); 10–15 years’ experience preferred.
• Experience with tax technology and regulatory frameworks; large-scale tax transformation or SAP projects preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and tax tech tools (e.g., Avalara, Vertex) is a plus.
• Strong project management skills, ideally with agile experience.
• Excellent analytical skills for translating regulations into technical solutions.
• Outstanding communication and presentation abilities.
