The Position:

As the Chief Procurement Officer for Advanced Materials business, you’ll be part of Advanced Materials Executive Leadership. You'll be at the helm of a multifaceted role combining the responsibilities of Direct, Indirect and Capex Sourcing leader, Procurement Strategy Development, with Functional Transformation and Operational Excellence. This dynamic leadership position demands a strong external persona and a deep Supply Chain focus to strategize, execute, and drive growth, deliver on cost and cash financial goals, support business revenue growth and expansion, and innovation globally. From formulating strategic directions for the Procurement Team to ensuring supply chain excellence and fostering creativity, you'll play a pivotal role in steering Advanced Materials’ growth trajectory and establishing as an independent Top Tier Specialty Chemicals company based in USA serving its global customer base.

You will report directly to our ISC VP SC Leader, and you'll work out of our Morris Plains, NJ location on a hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will have a significant impact on the financial performance of the business through the delivery of cost savings, working capital improvement, and supplier quality. You will be responsible for developing and executing annual and strategic procurement plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives. You will lead sourcing transition initiatives to optimize the supply base, achieve the lowest total cost, and reduce sole/single source risk. Additionally, you will drive improvements in sourcing processes and performance through effective management operating systems.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in procurement and supply chain leadership, capable of collaborating with senior leaders, peers, suppliers, and partners on change management and transformation. This role requires knowledge of procurement strategy, category management, and global vendor/supplier management, with experience in large-scale global spend portfolios. Strong in managing strategic vendor relationships globally, developing standards, and achieving outcomes. Familiarity with modern sourcing systems and tools preferred. Must demonstrate integrity, problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical skills, and decision-making. Experience in leading global teams, implementing systems across businesses and regions, negotiation, complex supply agreements, facilitation, and financial skills is essential. Effective communication and teamwork abilities are needed for successful collaboration and influence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Strategic Leadership:
  • The capability to formulate and convey an inspiring vision for the procurement organization, encompassing both their specific areas of responsibility viz, Direct, Indirect and Capital procurement and the enterprise as a whole
  • A propensity to seek and analyze data from diverse sources to inform decisions and align with the organization's overarching strategy leading to effective Functional transformation and operational excellence
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and creative approach to developing innovative ideas that will challenge the organization and extend industry boundaries while managing the need for significant change via realistic and attainable goals and implementation plans originated from the purpose driven strategy
  1. Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Deep understanding of the chemical industry with familiarity of chemical manufacturing processes, raw materials, industry regulations, and market dynamics
    • Build collaborative long-term partnerships with suppliers, contractors and outsourced service providers to reduce costs, governed by long term contracts and effective management to meet regulatory and compliance requirements
    • Create Resilient supply chain by identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with supplier dependencies, including supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and compliance concerns.
  2. People, Team Management and Organization Development:
    • The ability to set clear and challenging goals while committing the organization to improved performance, tenacious and accountable in driving result
    • Attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance; Ensure talent development and succession plans are in place
    • Persevere in the face of challenges, and exhibit a steadfast resolve and relentless commitment to higher standards, which commands respect from others
  3. Results, Performance Metrics and Reporting:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track supplier performance against agreed-upon standards, identifying areas for improvement, and holding suppliers accountable.
    • Effective leadership communication of reports - being clear, concise, timely, and focused on key insights detailing impact to business financials via procurement cost savings, efficiency, and supplier performance.
  4. Capex and Opex Budget Management:
    • As functional leader, oversee deployment of comprehensive sourcing strategies for optimal management of Indirect expenses and capital projects, in partnership with Engineering and Supply Chain functions
    • Manage procurement budgets and control costs while ensuring quality and service delivery from suppliers. Analyze market trends and forecast procurement needs to optimize spending.
  1. Growth Mindset:
    • Expand Procurement support to new product introduction and development initiatives ensuring procurement considerations are integrated from the start. Champion early Business alignment & stakeholder engagement for key projects/initiatives to optimize value for the business.
    • Collaborate with other departments such as planning, finance, logistics, and operations to align procurement strategies with business that elevate and sustain financial outcomes in long term and truly enabling Total Cost Approach
    • Partnership with General Management and Offering Team, contributions to Asset management strategies to deliver on business growth objectives. Including Procurement leadership for key repositioning and M&A projects
  2. Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Improve and govern procurement processes, controls and accountability across operations including close linkage with supply and demand planning
  • ALWAYS ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

MUST HAVE

Significant experience in procurement or supply chain management, often requiring 10+ years in a progressive purchasing or supply chain role, including leadership experience.
Professional certifications, such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), can be advantageous.


WE VALUE

A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree or MBA is often preferred.
