Your day to day:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute an architectural strategy that solidifies the foundational platform technologies to power all Consumer experiences at PayPal
Identify and analyze latest trends in technology to decide what to build, buy, or leverage
Platform Development:
Oversee the design, development, and deployment of distributed systems, employee-configured platforms, and frameworks that 40+ teams' leverage
Ensure the platform is scalable, reliable, secure, and provides an excellent developer experience.
Developer Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with the developer community.
Gather feedback to continuously improve platform offerings and address developer needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to align platform initiatives with business objectives.
Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to ensure all activities meet regulatory standards.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers
Foster a culture of obsessing over what is hard or redundant for developers and teams that build Consumer experiences
Be a champion of evidence-based decision making
What do you need to bring:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
12+ years of experience in backend technology roles that power mobile and web experiences and 5+ years architecting and leading senior engineers.
Proven track record in building and managing customer-oriented platforms.
Deep understanding of datastores, distributed systems and mature platforms
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners and developers.
Proficient in leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in the financial industry.
Experience in the payments or fintech industry is highly desirable.
