Your day to day:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and execute an architectural strategy that solidifies the foundational platform technologies to power all Consumer experiences at PayPal

• Identify and analyze latest trends in technology to decide what to build, buy, or leverage

Platform Development:

• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of distributed systems, employee-configured platforms, and frameworks that 40+ teams' leverage

• Ensure the platform is scalable, reliable, secure, and provides an excellent developer experience.

Developer Relations:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with the developer community.

• Gather feedback to continuously improve platform offerings and address developer needs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to align platform initiatives with business objectives.

• Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to ensure all activities meet regulatory standards.

Team Leadership:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers

• Foster a culture of obsessing over what is hard or redundant for developers and teams that build Consumer experiences

• Be a champion of evidence-based decision making

What do you need to bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 12+ years of experience in backend technology roles that power mobile and web experiences and 5+ years architecting and leading senior engineers.

• Proven track record in building and managing customer-oriented platforms.

• Deep understanding of datastores, distributed systems and mature platforms

• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners and developers.

• Proficient in leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in the financial industry.

• Experience in the payments or fintech industry is highly desirable.
