About the role:

In this strategic role, you will provide engineering expertise and technical leadership to support the development of complex electro-mechanical medical device systems within the Interventional Cardiology Coronary Therapies team. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead interdisciplinary technical teams consisting of electrical, mechanical, software, biomedical and systems engineers from project conception to commercialization of complex medical systems.
  • Define project assignments of substantial variety and complexity, including project resource requirements, budgets, schedules, and technical milestones to align with program goals.
  • Coordinate and ensure the success of key project activities including product development, risk management, verification & validation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Influence cross-functional teams, resolve technical conflicts, and drive alignment across engineering, quality, clinical and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage the technical scope of projects, utilizing tradeoff assessment tools, data analysis and subject matter expert feedback to justify and document project decisions.
  • Effectively communicate project decisions and status to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Mentor high potential technical talent.
  • Interface with physicians and Cath lab personnel to identify needs and to obtain feedback on concept performance of new devices that influence future business recommendations and enhances BSC’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Understand clinical use cases to translate customer needs into product requirements and design specifications.
  • Ensure that the product design will meet user needs, marketing and business objectives.
  • Leverage internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives.
  • In all actions, demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all documented quality processes and procedures.

Required qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or other related engineering field.
  • At least 12 years of engineering work experience developing complex products.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead high performing technical teams through a structured approach to solving complex technical problems.
  • Strong systems engineering skills over a broad range of products/applications.
  • Strong knowledge of design controls & risk management practices.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or other related engineering field.
  • Experience designing complex electro-mechanical and software systems.
  • Medical device industry experience.
  • Track record of developing and launching products with commercial success.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for solving problems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.

Maximum Salary: $ 232000

Compensation fornon-exempt (hourly), non-sales rolesmay also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
