- - - - What the Candidate Will Do ----

1. Work with tax operations, product, compliance, engineering, ops, accounting and other business stakeholders in mining and analyzing tax financial and entity-level data to extract key trends and insights.
2. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in tax data, generate reports for external data sharing.
3. Build effective visualizations to communicate data to key decision-makers. Be a trusted advisor to stakeholders cross-functionally.
4. Build models to automate detection of anomalies/inconsistencies in tax data and resolve the same;
5. Build end to end data pipelines and self serving dashboards. Automate whatever you can!
6. Explore FinTech systems/data to proactively identify and initiate process improvements for cost savings and efficiencies.
7. Communicate your findings to cross-functional peers and management.
8. Get a deep understanding about the Tax systems and data flows involved; document and train internal personnel to institutionalize the learnings of the data science practice.

- - - - Basic Qualifications ----

1. M.S. or Bachelors degree in Math, Economics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields. (If M.S. degree, a minimum of 1+ years of industry experience required and if Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 2+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent)
2. Advanced SQL expertise
3. Ability and experience in extracting insights from data, and summarizing learnings / takeaways to cross-functional stakeholders.
4. Experience with Excel and some dashboarding/data visualization (i.e. Tableau, Mixpanel, Looker, or similar)
5. Past experience with a Product / Tech / Analytics Services company serving businesses with millions of customers on multiple platforms and countries

- - - - Preferred Qualifications ----

1. Experience with either Python or R
2. Basic understanding of experimental design (such as A/B experiments) and statistical methods
3. Demonstrated aptitude toward data storytelling and root cause analysis using data
4. Enthusiastic, self-starting and thrives in changing, agile environments
5. Liaise with Product and engineering counterparts to launch and impact new products
6. Strong communication and organization skills
7. Ability to multi-task while maintaining quality and detail
8. Prior experience working in Finance, FinTech, Tax, Payments or a related area is a plus
