Execute final full-power grid-connected performance tests on Battery Energy Storage Systems. Execution of these tests will require planning & collaboration with external stakeholders (customer & utilities), as we as internal stakeholders (project engineers, project managers, commissioning engineers & management)
Develop & coordinate performance test plans with owners, utilities, and ISOs (CAISO/ERCOT etc.), assist with power dispatch, test energy schedules & customer facing questions
Generate professional testing reports for internal stakeholders and external customers upon completion of tests
Triage, investigate and support correcting all hardware/software/firmware issues that are discovered during performance tests. Effectively summarize & broadly communicate any issues to relevant stakeholders for future product improvement
Support commissioning/fleet sustainment efforts for all equipment comprising a battery energy storage system
Develop scrappy tools via python, bash & SQL, to automate/streamline Performance Testing Efforts and enable more rapid testing and larger scale
Continuously identify the task(s) that are most time consuming in your role and find ways to automate/streamline them
This is diverse role where knowledge of basic design rules, constructability, permitting, utility requirements, and engineering fundamentals is expected. Expectations include a rock-solid work ethic and a strong team-oriented personality. Members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology landscape
What You’ll Bring
Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
Strong desire to advance the future electrical grid
Must be comfortable working under pressure & controlling 100MW+ energy storage facilities during final testing
1+ years of professional experience in commissioning/performance testing/maintenance/design of power generation facilities or other electrical/SCADA/controls discipline
Knowledge and experience with SCADA protocols (i.e., DNP3 and Modbus)
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, SEL PLCs, Relays and meters, SCADA gateways, managed Ethernet switches, media converters (fiber and serial) and digital Input/output devices
Familiarity with industrial communication networks (fiber optics, network switches, TCP/IP, etc.)
Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, and flexible
Demonstrated experience in customer-focused problem solving
Role will have periodic on-call 24/7 support of external customers and you will need to be able to travel up to 20-40% of time, occasionally on short notice
