Job responsibilities
- Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
- Accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
- Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
- Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
- Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
- Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5 + years development experience in Java EE, with a deep understanding of the language and core API's, web services, multi-threaded/concurrent programming, XML, design patterns, Service Oriented Architecture. In addition 2+ experience in managing technologists including their goals, career discussions and year end reviews
- Experience in implementing Micro services using Spring Boot and Event Driven architecture.
- Proficient in using SQL & NoSQL Database – Oracle or Cassandra
- Proficient in using performance testing tools like Jmeter, performance tuning, debugging & Profiling Tools
- Experience using Kafka
- Experience in working on cloud technologies preferably AWS.
- Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience working at code level
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
