You will be responsible for identifying new expansion opportunities, creating account strategy, execution plans, and project management of large complex strategic deals for the top partners. Additionally, this role is responsible for working with merchant marketing teams to build out and manage a merchant GTM strategy, focused on developing & running promotions to drive new merchant acquisition and adoption through our key partners.
Responsibilities
- Understand partner ecosystems, partner business models, needs of partners, and PayPal solutions to uncover opportunities and craft partner-specific solutions.
- Identify and drive growth opportunities within the portfolio through new product integration/best practices, international expansion, marketing penetration or promotions, or other strategic priorities.
- Deliver financial returns and/or successful completion of strategic goals.
- Create and execute account-level plans that include contract negotiation, integration execution, and mutual launch activities.
- Build relationships with C-Suite, VP, and senior-level management at existing partners, engendering trust, confidence, loyalty, awareness, and mutual benefit.
- Establish yourself internally and externally as the main point of contact for anything related to your partners through strong internal involvement across all PayPal assets and deep engagement.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for PayPal to penetrate new markets or merchants with or through partners, bringing in or responding to sales initiatives when appropriate.
- Learn partners' product pain points and understand priorities and urgency; communicate this knowledge to PayPal management; keep partners informed of product roadmap; manage business relationships during post-launch re-integrations.
- Create and drive strategic plans with partners & be seen as an e-commerce subject matter expert that the partners can rely on for product, payment & industry trends, best practices & expertise.
- Provide product guidance and recommendations to partners to assist with their implementation of PayPal & new product adoption.
- Promote the value prop of PayPal Commerce Platform, PayLater, Venmo and Braintree to partners and evangelize partner value and partner capabilities within PayPal. Be the voice of the partner: advocate for your partners, and ensure the team and strategy are customer-focused.
- Maintain Salesforce to track all marketing initiatives, product opportunities, and contractual opportunities and be able to use internal tools for account management.
- Project management of large strategic deals from pitch to launch & beyond to manage partner marketing programs & plans.
- Facilitate meetings with PayPal functional groups (Product, Engineering, Finance, Risk, Ops, etc.) for learning and confidence-building purposes; facilitate meetings with PayPal senior management when appropriate.
- Work with Marketing to create strategies and execute activities that will drive partner advocacy, merchant acquisition, and increase total merchant processing volume.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in sales, business development, or relationship management focused on eCommerce and channel partners.
- 5+ years in eCommerce, merchant services, or acquiring industry, with a solid understanding of eCommerce technology.
- Strong knowledge of the payments industry, including PayPal products and competitor offerings, with insights into geographic nuances that inform effective channel partner strategies.
- In-depth understanding of customer payment needs and market trends, with a focus on key touchpoints across the sales funnel.
- Experience collaborating across regions and functional teams to achieve common goals within a hands-on, results-oriented environment
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence with a focus on P&L management.
- Creative problem solver with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated success in executing against goals, balancing attention to detail with effective delegation.
- High sense of urgency and capability to manage multiple projectssimultaneously.
- Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of product strategy, excelling at identifying opportunities and navigating challenges. Expert negotiator in enterprise and technical sales.
- Distinctive strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience building trusted relationships with executive stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of crafting compelling narratives to influence technical and business stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with evolving global products.
- Proficient in data modeling and analytics, turning insights into actionable business recommendations to optimize strategy.
- Bachelor's degree required. Masters is a plus.
