Job Description:

Your way to impact:

  • Providing risk and compliance technical subject matter expertise to support the business and centralised organisations in executing the requirements of the programme and managing risks
  • Providing effective second line of defence challenge to the business, first line functions, and other centralised organisations
  • Support the local execution of risk and compliance programmes at a local level.
  • Evaluate and challenge status quo with the aim to continuously improve and adapt the Legal Entity’s approach to manage risks and adhere to applicable regulatory obligations.

Your day to day:

Product Risk and Compliance

  • Support the Strategic Risk methodology, including Product Risk and Compliance Management for the UK. Work with relevant teams to understand the functionality of new and changing products coming to the UK market and provide risk assessments on appropriateness and regulatory considerations.
  • Maintain strong understanding of PayPal products and services and become a “go-to” person regarding products to assist wider members of the team as appropriate.
  • Support with review and assessment of new and changed products, processes and solutions as part of the Risk & Controls Identification Process and take part in the New Product Forum.
  • Support with business enablement discussions that require consideration of UK requirements.

Regulatory Reporting

  • Support with the development and maintenance of regulatory reporting framework, including procedures to streamline and automate regulatory reporting.
  • Act as a trouble shooter on regulatory reporting and take ownership for working on blockers in order to facilitate smooth flow of data for reporting purposes.
  • Work with global teams to promote better ownership of UK reportable data.
  • Identify any gaps in data and work with relevant technical global teams to remediate issues relating to data accuracy and speed of provision.
  • Assist with developing and documenting processes around the provision of data for regulatory reporting and notifications.

Management Information

  • Assist team members with technical aspects of building management information dashboards for the UK entity.
  • Where applicable, work with relevant global teams to obtain data and information relating to provide input to the generation of a risk profile dashboard and support other processes such as top risks, emerging risks, etc.
  • Support the UK Legal Entity’s needs surrounding documentation (e.g. assist in policy refresh, documentation of procedures and security measures)

Ideally you would have

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science or relevant areas.
  • A Risk or Compliance qualification is an advantage.
  • Extensive technical knowledge with experience of designing and executing new data-driven processes
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting to UK authorities (PRA, FCA, BoE)
  • Experience in partnering with technologists, developers and engineers on product development and technical builds for streamlining data provision.
  • Extensive experience implementing new regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in teaming with technology and engineers on product development and technical builds for streamlining data provision.
  • Experience with drafting Compliance policies and procedures.

  • Excellent ability to analyse compliance risks in complex business processes and recommend controls to mitigate those risks.
  • Proficient at collaborating with teams on a regional and global level.
  • Excellent executive presentation and project management skills with the ability to successfully work multiple issues at one time and work across global time zones.
  • Ability to work within a matrixed environment and cross functionally with operations and technology functions.
  • Ability to hold a level of influence, organising and motivating others, including those who are in more senior positions.
