POSITION SUMMARY
The position is responsible for performing activities under limited supervision. Performs limited or routine preventative maintenance duties and repairs of facilities, equipment and systems as assigned, and assists skilled mechanics in performing maintenance duties. Operates, monitors and maintains conveying system. Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical equipment and systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools. Recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required to streamline processes and increase efficiency. Assists team and Supervisor in developing methods and procedures to control or improve facilities processes. Demonstrates knowledge of mechanical building equipment and systems required to operate and maintain a large office/distribution facility.


ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
• Performs preventative maintenance on all minor and major pieces of equipment related to facilities.
• Troubleshoots and repairs facilities, equipment and/or systems including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic.
• Performs basic building and equipment repairs using hand/power tools and basic electric multi-meter skills.
• Assembles basic components from supplied instructions or drawings.
• Performs basic maintenance of non-critical equipment including basic lubrication utilizing oil or grease pumps/guns, replacing and adjusting drive belts, replacing filters, replacing lights, light plumbing and replacing mechanical parts with supplied original manufacturer parts.
• Performs basic repairs of a mechanical or electrical nature with manufacturer or other supplied parts.
• Picks-up ordered parts or supplies and restocks parts or supplies.
• Complies with all equipment, safety, and OSHA rules and regulations, and all Company policies and procedures.
• Oversees facilities related projects.
• Oversees Contractor Management and complies with EHS&S standards.
• Assists facilities manager with preventative maintenance work order creation/assignment.
• Performs monthly KPI inspections for soft service vendors.
• Completes daily/weekly/monthly work orders on all assigned equipment and maintains records of scheduled maintenance.
• Supports local Green Initiative Facility Enhancements.
• Participates as a member of the Company’s Emergency Response Team.
• Performs related duties as assigned.


Your experience and qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.

Education/Certification/Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent, and prefer hands-on or vocational school training, and a minimum of Five (5) years of experience as a general maintenance mechanic in a Warehouse environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving history.
• Familiar with OSHA requirements and safe practices.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic mathematics.
• Qualified and able to work with hand/power tools/equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse cross-functional groups.
• Interpreting and applying Federal, State and local policies, procedures and regulations for FDA, EPA and OSHA.
• HVAC systems: CRAC, RTU’s, Mini-Splits, Walk-in Cooler/Freezer.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures related to safety and environmental regulations and SOP’s which includes but is not limited to waste management (hazardous and non-hazardous)
• Following all Company safety rules and regulations, recognizing hazards and taking appropriate corrective action.
• Performing repair techniques including cutting, drilling, gluing, caulking, fastening of plastic, wood and milled steel.
• NFPA 70E
• Basic electrical and mechanical control and/or operating systems.
• Reading and interpreting schematics.
• Microsoft Suite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Occasional:
• Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling, stooping and crouching climbing and walking, vision to monitor, occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, and dangerous tools and equipment. Work is performed in distribution environment.
• Must be able to climb ladder/scaffold.
• Must be able to operate forklift.


Visual Acuity:
• Perform activities such as computer work, preparing and analyzing data, and extensive reading.

• May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed on site visits (i.e. safety glasses, safety shoes, Hi – Visibility Vest, hearing protection, gloves, etc.).
