Job Description

The Lead Electronics Hardware Engineer will be involved in development activities in support of new and existing products. You will operate within a friendly team of 12 with other firmware, hardware engineers and system architects ; you will be working closely with your immediate colleagues and the wider R&D team to design the electronics for our next generation of pet care products .

What you’ll be doing

You will lead hardware activities while also working as a senior engineer.

You will be instrumentally involved at all stages of the product design cycle, from the initial design concepts all the way through to releasing a new product to mass production.

Day-to-day tasks will typically involve circuit design and simulation, schematic and board design, component selection, new technology research, prototyping and testing, PCBA bring-up, EMC testing, and project end-to-end (from research to manufacturing and field support).

You will be researching and evaluating new technologies for possible inclusion in products.

You will have experience in as many of the following areas as possible:

  • You should have a good degree-level education as an Electronic Engineer or equivalent subject
  • Experience in a similar or relevant position
  • A deep understanding of electronic hardware design
  • Self-motivated and experience to lead design
  • Familiarity with the complete development cycle from Hardware specification and documentation, through
  • Schematics drawing, Layout guidance, bring-up, integration with Firmware, Design validation tests and mass production ramp-up.
  • Details oriented, with good design methodology skills from concept to specification documentation and implementation.
  • Experience with hands-on work and willingness to perform the bring up, Hardware/Firmware integration and debugging activities

The site is located in Cambourne Business Park, only a 20 minute drive from Cambridge city centre. It is newly refurbished and consist of a large office space, alongside a well-equipped R&D lab, workshop and test lab. Free on-site parking and only a short walk to the town centre.

The opportunity for hybrid home/office working is available. Very occasional international travel may be required to visit overseas sister companies and production partners.

Who you are

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar or relevant position
  • A deep understanding of electronic hardware design
  • Self-motivated and experience to lead a team
  • Familiarity with the complete development cycle from Hardware specification and documentation, through
