Key job responsibilities
- Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes with continuous improvement in mind.- Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, servers, switches using provisioning portals.- Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes always with an eye on improvement.
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.
- Have functional knowledge and disciplines for fiber optic and network cabling and labeling conforming to AWS standards.
- Handling heavy equipment (move and lift computer equipment up to 50lbs).
- Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures. Diagnosing hardware and network problems followed by physical basic replacement of damaged or faulty equipment and devices.
- Ability to travel within geographical work area is required, up to 20% travel outside traditional work area may be required possibly including international travel.A day in the life
A day in the life of an ID Technician is exciting and varies from day to day with a range of responsibilities, including patching fibre connections, troubleshooting link issues using our internal applications with careful planning, especially when spanning across separate data centers in different regions. We also handle hardware installation in racks, device configuration and upgrades, as well as executing scripts. Collaboration with multiple teams is crucial whilst working on projects as we maintain regular progress updates. We have access to internal systems to keep data up-to-date and use internal resources to dive deep and to keep learning.You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. - Recognized academic or industry qualification (CCNA, JNCIA, degree or relevant work experience).
- Ability to specify power and cooling requirements, participate in hardware racking/stacking, and actively contribute to the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware. Be able to move and lift computer equipment up to 50lbs.
- Knowledge in TCP/IP networking and proficient in troubleshoot networking, network cabling and configuration, optic types, and test equipment, including VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
- Strong understanding of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, etc.) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Significant background in large-scale datacenter network implementations and support.
- Several years of experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments.
- Proficient in IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies (a plus).
