The Junior HVAC and Utilities Design Engineer will develop HVAC and Mechanical designs with a specific focus on Data Center projects with the right commitment on time, productivity, and quality in accordance with specific design criteria and client requirements. They will be a part of motivated project teams with technical competence, interpersonal sensitivity, and conflict management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Develop project of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, with experience on Black Utilities;
- Develop design criteria and airflow balance and energy calculations;
- Support on the development of the Utilities calculations for both generation and distribution systems on typical fluids as Chilled, Hot, Glycoled, Softened and Potable Water, Drainage and Sewage system;
- Promote sustainable design solutions;
- Prepare technical specifications, descriptions, scope of work, bill of quantities, etc. of HVAC and Utilties services;
- Develop A&FDs and P&IDs in accordance with the design scope and requirements;
- Participate in the design coordination activities with other engineering disciplines;
- Perform technical alignment and bid tabulation for tender packages for order placement;
- Follow-up of HVAC and Utilties contractors and engineering support to construction activities;
- Perform daily work with local and international consultants;
- Interact actively with the 3D modelling teams to ensure conveyance of information;
- Attend regularly to Client and Stakeholder coordination meetings jointly with the Lead HVAC engineer;
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices;
- Able to read and interpret Plumbing and Firefighting P&ID’s and drawings wherever required.
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering;
- Technical background with 2+ years of experience in HVAC and Utilities design;
- Experience in both local and international projects;
- Knowledge of national and international standard technical codes (ASHRAE, Energy and Sustainability codes);
- Good communication and negotiation skills;
- Capability of working autonomously and in a large team;
- Availability to international assignments;
- Fluency in English and Italian;
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Experience in data centers projects;
- Revit MEP basic knowledge and specialized collaborative platforms (BIM360, ACC, Naviswork, Revizto);
- Design software experience for Heating and Cooling loads calculation and Energy Modelling (IES, HAP), CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) Analysis;
- Basic Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems) & Control Systems for the Systems Testing and Commissioning.
