Job Description
In this role, you will have a vision of what the future of data integration within the organisation can be and have the ability to get others to see the vision and align all data-related activities with achieving the goals of the organization. You are rarely satisfied with the way data is managed, will constantly be looking for ways to improve the status quo of how data is managed and as a result, constantly strive for improvements in how data is defined, produced, and used. In this capacity, you will have the opportunity to drive business value by enabling data-driven insights and decision making across commercial division.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Day-to-day point of contact for Data Producers, Consumers, Operational Stewards and IT for a Data Domain, starting with the Customer Data Domain
- Gets involved in new projects where customer data is defined, produced and used
- Works with end-users to improve customer data collection, accuracy, and completeness
- Collaborates with Data Owner and SMEs to define what “good looks like”, improving data collection, accuracy, and completeness
- Applies relevant policies, guidelines, and business rules around collection and usage of the data asset
- Measures data quality based on predefined KPIs and takes action to ensure data quality meets business expectation
- Identifies data quality rules by which the data asset will be measured
- Monitors asset data quality performance and generates a monthly data quality report for discussion with data domain owner
- Works with operational data steward to implement remediation process, to fix poor quality data assets (e.g., duplication of records), and approves new attributes for the data asset
- Responds to data-specific queries for the data domain, coordinating with Data SMEs and other stakeholders as required
- Responds to data access requests, not otherwise granted by automated access, based on policies set by the Data Owner
- Ensures the data processes involved and controls are setup to enable correct entry to the MDM, maintaining quality, compliance and standards
- Owns the data input process and takes required remediation steps (e.g., data correction, process and system changes, etc.) at the data source
- Maintains records regarding the end-to-end lifecycle of data: production, to consumer, to maintenance and integration with other datasets
- Runs user forums (including domain council) of the data domain, communicating topics of interest and updates
- Documents how the data attributes in domain are classified and secured, and how the business rules around the data in their domain are audited, regulated, and controlled
- Provids advice and guidance on data usage, promoting learning and education, enabling success of data consumers
- Responsible for the daily management of metadata (e.g., identification, definition/creation of business metadata and business glossary)
- Initiates corrective action to address issues found with the availability, accuracy, and completeness of the domain metadata
- Scope of domain stewardship coverage could extend to other data domains over time
Education:
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or related field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, etc.
Required experience and skills:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience, with demonstrated Data Governance and Stewardship experience, enabling data usage and quality via an Agile framework
- Experience working in the pharmaceutical/healthcare/life sciences industry in Japan, demonstrating good knowledge of commercial and marketing analytics domains, as well as relevant datasets and data landscapes
- Bi-lingual: native Japanese is a must, with at least business-level of English communication skills
- Knowledge of data management and data lifecycle; experience working with data scientists, reporting/visualization developers and data analytics teams
- Experience in developing process improvements on how data is defined, produced, and used in the organization, experience with pharma customer data (HCP/HCO) is a plus
- Project Management experience, managing data-related, change management activities across multiple teams and functions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish credibility and trust with a variety of stakeholders across functional lines, and needs to establish a cross-department team of subject matter experts
- Leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to set direction and motivate the organization to achieve data integration, by including all parties that are interested (or mandated) to integrate their data
Preferred experience and skills:
- Agile / Six-Sigma Certifications
- Data Analysis skills (e.g., SQL / Python)
- Experience with Cloud-based Data & Analytics solutions (AWS or equivalent)
- Relevant experience in Product Management frameworks/methodologies and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
