As a Principal Software Engineer - Azure Core Container Upstream you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying cloud-native solutions. You will be collaborating with other engineers to create designs and getting buy-in from the rest of the company and the CNCF community. This position requires collaboration across team and organizational boundaries.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Go or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience writing Golang applications, building Kubernetes operators, contributing to Kubernetes core or other CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) projects, and mutating cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • 6+ years of experience with containers and container security.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
    • OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, OR Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Have a proven track record of remote work and experience contributing to open-source projects.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully with external contributors. Our projects are not “Microsoft only”.
  • We assist external contributors in the hopes of encouraging them to contribute to our designs and eventually become project maintainers themselves.
