The Commercial Manager will control the project’s commercial and contractual position through the application of knowledge and experience in risk management, project cost control, contract and sub-contractor management and the financial management of the project through the application of expert contractual knowledge as related to all aspects of the project lifecycle. The role is based in our North Ryde office in Sydney and will consider anyone suitable to be based in our Abbotsford office in Melbourne .

Establishes the contractual & commercial framework for projects from inception to completion.

Pro-actively assist with commercial solution for any identified threat of negative deviation.

Contract reviews

Advise and assist project teams on best commercial practices associated related to changes in scope, variation orders.

Deploy standard Commercial Management methodologies in the delivery and control of projects

Claims management.

Advise on best practices to ensure appropriate records keeping for possible/pending claims or dispute resolution.

Alert Operational Management / General Manager of any commercial risk threats and advise on the best approach.

Investigate and analyze the causes and effects of the events that have arisen, prepare submissions.

Risk management relative to the commercial and contractual success of the project.

Key Experience & Capabilities:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience analyzing contractual liability and causation
  • Expert knowledge of multiple standard contracts by country
  • Ability to identify, analyze, prepare, and substantiate damage claims.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Construction related Statutes and historical dispositions of disputes by country.
  • Proven track record achieving favorable outcomes in the resolution of damage claims across all contracting tiers.
  • Documented success driving dispute resolution.
  • Proven track record of analyzing contracts and the parties’ performance throughout the project duration.
  • Advanced negotiation and closing skills.
