Organization Description

Global Banking (GB) is focused on helping our clients succeed and making a positive difference in our communities. We provide credit and financing, treasury and payment services, international banking and real estate services to clients including corporations, municipalities, institutions, real estate investors and owners, and nonprofit organizations.

As a Control Management Associate in Global Banking, you'll be responsible for ensuring the line of business has a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment, identifying and escalating issues with a sense of urgency and partnering with the business to ensure issues are remediated in a timely manner. Additionally, you will assist in top-down assessments, real-time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis and remediation.

Functions Performed:

  • Interpret Compliance Policies and Standards to enable efficient control design and effective implementation
  • In partnership with stakeholders, evaluate and perform an end-to-end analysis of the business’ risk and control environment to identify significant gaps and weaknesses and determine root cause of control breaks
  • Partner with BOEs to streamline processes and advocate for GB businesses with firm wide partners and enhance overall control effectiveness
  • Calibrate and adjust monitoring activities as a result from cross line of business (LOB) issues, successes and other lessons learned

Job responsibilities:

  1. Perform ongoing analysis of program related data and develop ad-hoc reports as requested to support business-related programs and strategies
  2. Analyze data to better understand potential risks, concerns, and outcomes of decisions
  3. Aggregate data from multiple sources to provide a comprehensive assessment
  4. Create reports, summaries, presentations and process documents to display results
  5. Collaborate with other team members to effectively analyze and present data
  6. Facilitate cross-functional working groups to drive day-to-day progress against initiatives
  7. Pre-empt and manage/resolve issues end-to-end and ensure timely communication
  8. Identify risks and issues and manage through to closure
  9. Prepare and deliver presentations to executive stakeholders

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
  3. Critical thinking skills with the ability to independently solve problems with data
  4. Strong relationship management skills
  5. Ability to focus on the key issues and drive initiatives to conclusion
  6. Ability to facilitate and provide critical feedback in working group sessions
  7. Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, planning skills and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  8. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to multiple levels of management, both written and verbal with strong attention to detail

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in financial services industry with background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management or compliance preferred
  2. Strong analytical and end-to-end problem-solving skills
  3. Organized, self-motivated and a team player
  4. Ability to create concise communication materials and present to senior stakeholders
  5. Strong interpersonal collaboration skills – ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like manner and achieve goals
  6. Ability to prioritize issues and handle multiple tasks effectively; be proactive in a fast-paced environment
  7. Possesses excellent judgment, knows when to escalate complex issues to senior management or functional partners with relevant expertise
  8. Comfortable with change, ambiguity, debate, conflict and informed risk-taking
