Job Requirements

We are looking for a student who will work on Monte Carlo simulation projects under the guidance of more experienced data scientists. The projects may potentially require developing new statistical methodology or implementing new models and numerical methods. The position is a good fit for talented master’s and PhD students in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, or other related technical programs with a strong emphasis on statistical theory and modelling.


Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Analyse and understand research problems.
  • Implement new solutions, models, and computational procedures – mainly in R.
  • Present ideas, progress, and results.
  • Analyse and understand the existing code base in R.
  • Work with multiple collaboration DevOps tools such as JIRA, Git, and Confluence.
  • Run computationally demanding programs in the cloud.
  • Further responsibilities might be related to common data science, including exploratory data analysis, running standard statistical models and tests, and drawing high-level conclusions from the data.
  • Qualifications and Education Minimum Requirement
  • Studying mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, or related fields. Master’s and PhD students are strongly preferred.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Passion for mathematics and good-quality code.

Desired Aspirations Towards Following Experience and Skills:

  • Familiarity with R language required, experience in Julia, Matlab, or Python is an advantage.
  • The ability to propose and implement a simulation, model, method, or algorithm is a major advantage.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: mathematical analysis, numerical methods, modelling, probability theory, statistical inference, stochastic processes, econometrics, optimization, and Monte Carlo simulation.
  • Broad communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make presentations for business, to interpret and use the analytics results within the real business context.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a globally dispersed team.
