Inventory Managers are responsible for the proper oversight and operation of inventory control. This requires them to be knowledgeable of inventory systems and logistics, as well as be able to ensure supplier reliability, product quality and cost-effectiveness of inventory.
Inventory Managers are required to have strong analytical skills, intermediate level of computer expertise and ability to work with both spreadsheets and databases in order to effectively monitor and manage the inventory. Additionally, they must be organized and possess excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate problems and pre-empt them.
Inventory Managers must be able to keep track of supply chains, identify hidden costs in order to achieve cost savings and be able to successfully audit and reconcile all the inventory a company has in stock. They must also understand the process of stock replenishment and know how to accurately forecast the demand for particular products. Additionally, Inventory Managers must possess the ability to create detailed and accurate reports on inventory stock and turn-over data.
