About the role:

Boston Scientific is looking for a Fellow Electrical Engineer. You will be responsible for providing electrical and electronic engineering support and expertise in the definition, design, development and test of products in accordance with the Quality system standards, Design Controls and customer requirements. Ensures products are designed to facilitate manufacturability.

Your responsibilities will include:

• May work with R&D leadership to define technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and methodologies.
• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, Quality and Manufacturing teams etc. throughout product lifecycle.
• Participate in executive reviews and strategic planning sessions.
• Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories in their particular area of expertise.
• Provides critical design and technical problem resolution.
• Assume technical lead in the design, development, and testing of complex bioelectronic systems comprised of PCB design, stimulation, power management, wireless communication, and sensing technologies, etc.
• May lead projects or project teams with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
• Can work independently within functional / divisional policies while maintaining good communication with functional and cross-functional teams.
• May help with technical recruitment, training, and ongoing support of staff.
• Provides technical guidance, training and mentorship to less senior staff contributing to their ongoing development within the company.
• Provides feedback to the development staff on customer specific enhancements as well as new applications for base product in accordance with Quality System requirements.
• Ensures new products or product enhancements are designed to facilitate transfer to manufacturing in a timely fashion and in accordance with Quality System requirements. Facilitates the process of transferring products from development to manufacturing.
• Ensures that engineering testing and documentation is in accordance with regulatory requirements for approval of products by the regulatory agencies of the countries into which the products will be marketed.
• Works with patent attorneys in documenting innovative ideas, reviewing patent application, and supporting Freedom to Operate Analysis.
• Converts complex information to compelling business context and advice.
• Presents convincing arguments for complex ideas and projects at cross-functional meetings in a way that persuades others to agree on recommendation and/or approach, when appropriate.

Required qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience. Master’s degree or higher in engineering is preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in medical device design or similar products.
• Experience working under and knowledge of quality systems designed to meet FDA/EU regulatory requirements.
• Experience and knowledge of pre-clinical testing of medical products.
• Ability to travel 20% of the time.

Preferred qualifications:

• Demonstrates strong proficiency in Electrical Engineering, especially in analog circuit design.
• Ability to adapt and learn quickly leveraging knowledge towards the contribution of projects.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office tools for documentation, analyzing data, presenting data or ideas, etc.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools to manipulate and analyze data sets.
• Competence in the use of Electronics CAD software (Altium) for schematic capture and PCB layout is preferred.
• Professional, clear verbal and written communications skills required.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting as required.

About the role:

With the acquisition of FARAPULSE Inc., Boston Scientific is strengthening its leadership in Personalized EP Solutions, with a strong focus on Atrial Fibrillation. As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of next-generation pulsed field ablation catheter technologies.

You will be part of a high-performance team dedicated to designing, implementing, and testing disposable medical devices in the electrophysiology space. This role is integral to best-in-class development practices and rigorous, holistic product design—collaborating closely with internal and external partners to bring innovative solutions to patients.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Researching, designing, and evaluating mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, and processes

• Leading complex single-use device development efforts including requirements, design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing transfer, and V&V

• Developing solutions to challenging engineering problems requiring ingenuity and collaboration across functions

• Analyzing system-level issues and driving technical decision-making in cross-functional teams

• Ensuring compliance with the Product Development Process and Design Control deliverables

• Integrating product-level documentation with broader system requirements

• Organizing and planning project assignments with a focus on technical excellence and timely delivery

• Driving continuous improvement in product development and ensuring compliance with quality systems

• Providing mentorship, technical guidance, and fostering a high-performance team culture

• Drafting and submitting intellectual property

• Maintaining detailed documentation throughout all research and development phases

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum of 7 years' experience in the medical device industry with a BS, or minimum of 5 years' experience with a graduate degree

• Experience with Design Controls and Product Development Process in medical devices

• Proven experience managing technical aspects of cross-functional project teams

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and influence without authority

• Strong passion for understanding and solving problems for end users

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Proven self-starter with ability to navigate ambiguity and lead teams through complex challenges

• Experience with electrophysiology devices and/or Class II or Class III medical device development

• Background in catheter design and understanding of cardiovascular anatomy

• Demonstrated leadership in product development and technical team management

• Ability to synthesize diverse technical inputs and drive holistic solutions

• Systems engineering mindset with the ability to define unmet needs and translate them into solutions

• Familiarity with IEC/ISO standards and quality systems (e.g., ISO 13485, risk management protocols)

About the role:

This position will be responsible for providing electrical and electronic engineering support and expertise in the definition, design, development, and test of products. In addition, this position will be responsible for developing capable technologies and processes to ensure efficient and effective transfer of product into production.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide Tier 3 level support to existing manufacturing test equipment and processes
• Assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and innovate and implement process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes
• Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, fixturing, and/or automation
• Prepare and present technical data and recommendations at technical reviews
• Write validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes
• Ensure proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements (e.g., Requirements, BOMs, Validation Plans and Reports, FMEAs, etc.)
• Support development builds associated with the project using special work requests
• Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) input to the engineering print package
• Train and/or provide work direction to technicians and may train manufacturing personnel when required as part of a validation

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or closely related field) with an electrical focus, completed prior to start date (start date anticipated in January 2026)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work on a cross-functional team
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
• Prior experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Prior experience in medical device or other highly-regulated industry (internships and co-ops would be considered)
• Experience in LabVIEW and/or Python or C/C++ programming experience
• Software and systems experience; equipment and fixturing design
• Process Development, equipment validations, and process characterization experience
• Experience with schematic and circuit board layout (for example Altium, Cadence)
• Experience with Design Analysis Testing (DAT) and Design Verification Testing (DVT)
• Experience with Process Verification and Validation (PV&V)
• Data driven individual; statistical analysis experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Sells products by scheduling sales calls to meet with current and potential customers to fulfill revenue and unit growth objectives assigned by company on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
• Develop and implement sales strategies by determining the relevant factors (e.g., product, competition and pricing needs) of existing and potential accounts to effectively promote the company's products to appropriate hospital personnel and physicians.
• Develop action plans (i.e., weekly, quarterly, monthly) by analyzing quarterly and monthly sales figures and reports identifying the needs of accounts and discussing issues with Regional Sales Manager to help the organization achieve its annual sales goals.
• Determines the needs (e.g., product and pricing), goals, product usage, and types of cases handled by specific customers by meeting with and asking in-depth questions from physicians and other hospital personnel to learn which Guidant products can best address their specific needs.
• Serves as a resource for clinical support in the areas of implant coverage, basic troubleshooting, programming, and patient follow-up for company products.
• Ensure timely collection, reporting of all required medical documentation pertaining to procedural device operation using corporate issued tracking procedures and seeking input from appropriate personnel to resolve problems.
• Follows company and divisional guidelines for managing commercial inventory.
• Establish pricing packages by working with relevant Guidant personnel to establish price points that address specific customer's needs while satisfying company guidelines and policies.
• Responds to customer needs and complaints regarding products and service by developing creative and feasible solutions or working with other related personnel (e.g. clinical research, pricing and/or marketing) to develop optimal solutions.
• Develop relationships with hospital personnel (e.g. through casual conversation, meetings, participation in conferences) to make new contacts in other departments within hospitals and to identify key purchasing decision makers to facilitate future sales.
• Educates customers on the merits and proper clinical usage of company products by giving presentations and demonstrations using a wide variety of formats and platforms (e.g., slides, transparencies, manuals) to secure purchasing commitments, often with the help of incentive programs and services made available to the accounts being developed.

The anticipated annualized base amount or range for this full time position will be$57,100 to $113,600, plus variable compensation governed by the Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives) as well as the value of core and optional benefits offered at BSC, which can be reviewed at www.bscbenefitsconnect.com.
