As an EHS Manager, you'll be in charge of defining and implementing procedures to ensure your organization is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations, from the local to the federal level.
You will be responsible for advising management on risk management and safety for the organization and its employees. You'll be the go-to person for resolving safety and risk-related issues and ensuring compliance with environmental, health and safety standards. You'll be managing safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene programs, including emergency response, waste disposal, accident prevention, and energy conservation. On top of that, you'll be monitoring and enforcing training, auditing, and emergency response conduct.
You'll also be responsible for educating and motivating employees to work safely and identifying, analyzing, and correcting potential hazards that can affect safety and health, as well as developing and delivering safety protocols and procedures. You'll also be tasked with partnering with vendors to develop and improve policies and procedures.
Successful EHS Managers have excellent communications, organizational, and problem-solving skills. They take initiative, think logically, and respond quickly to situations. They possess technical knowledge of building and infrastructure codes, workplace laws, and hazardous materials regulations. Experience in occupational safety, compliance management and/or auditing, carrying out safety inspection and training, and developing an understanding of the regulations that apply to the organization are just a few of the qualifications EHS Managers must possess.
