Lead Technical Writer Redwood City, CA- Hybrid

As a Lead Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating effective product documentation, videos, and tutorials in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with a globally distributed team of software engineers, UX designers, product managers, and doc team members to create great user-facing content.

You will be reporting to Senior Director, Documentation

Technology You'll Use

DITA, Oxygen, content management systems, source control systems, Jira, and Confluence

Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do
  • Write friendly and helpful user-facing technical content that describes product functionality and use cases
  • Manage and update a large existing documentation set
  • Contribute to other documentation sets in a consistent and collaborative way
  • Create project plans, maintain schedules for specific projects, and communicate documentation status to documentation manager or lead
  • Work with stakeholders to deliver meaningful in-product assistance, messages, and develop clear terminology
  • Contribute how-to articles, knowledge base articles, videos, walkthroughs, and other useful content
  • Develop tutorials to improve the first user experience
  • Edit own content for completeness, style, and accuracy to ensure it reflects Informatica's commitment to quality
  • Compile, publish, and verify content
  • Contribute to documentation team processes
  • Mentor new writers and less experienced writers
  • Collaborate on projects with other technical writers or cross-team stakeholders

What We'd Like to See

  • Knowledge of mainframe concepts, relational and/or No SQL database concepts, cloud concepts
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and IBM i and z/OS operating systems Experience with DITA, Oxygen, content management systems, source control systems, Jira, and Confluence
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, video software, e-learning software, and/or Pendo
  • Understand strategies for writing for LLMs and using generative AI to enhance work

Role Essentials

  • BA/MA/BS/MS or equivalent (engineering, technical communications, humanities, social sciences) preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills
  • Able to quickly learn technical information
  • Able to meet deadlines and help others meet them
  • Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and consistently with stakeholders on status and priorities
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and set and meet deadlines
  • Able to develop and fine-tune documentation processes and style
  • Able to understand customer requirements and incorporate them into the documentation
  • Able to maintain structure and consistency of content in large doc sets
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, and owns and acts on quality problems
  • Experience working with a remote global team including senior product mgt and engineering staff

Job responsibilities
  • Works with the Branch Manager to set the tone of the branch environment to provide an exceptional customer experience and a dynamic and engaging culture
  • Engages clients as they enter the branch by welcoming them and making customers feel appreciated, performing transactions, managing lobby traffic, checking clients into the waiting queue and scheduling/canceling client meetings
  • Performs branch operations which may include managing cash devices such as the cash vault, ATM, or others while adhering to all bank policies and procedures
  • Introduces customers to the branch team who will build relationships and assist with specialized financial needs
  • Makes customers’ lives easier by sharing and setting up self-service options to access their accounts 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week
  • Supports the Branch Manager with all aspects of branch operations, including loss control, compliance, and audit standards
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • High school degree, GED, or foreign equivalent
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and have the ability to multi-task with a dedication to follow policies, procedures, and regulatory banking requirements
  • Availability to work Branch hours including weekends and some evenings
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make connections, engage, and educate customers and refer to colleagues as appropriate
  • Strong desire and ability to influence, educate, and connect team, partners, and customers to technology
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and proficiency in operations and transaction accuracy while working well in a team environment
  • Some College level or military equivalent or 2+ years of branch banking experience
Training requirement
  • Successful completion of the Branch Operations Lead training program is a pre-requisite to be considered active in Branch Operations Lead role
