  • Continuously reviewing the control environment for gaps or issues.

  • Assist with the Quarterly review and preparation of the group’s procedures and any related sign off checklists.

  • Keep up to date with Regulatory developments.

  • Collaborating globally to ensure alignment of procedures and processes.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Institutional Investment Operations, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

  • Experience with EMEA regulatory requirements and reporting rules (MiFID II experience desirable).

  • An understanding of the current regulatory environment (EMIR, MIFID, SFTR etc) and how that impacts the business/operations.

  • Work experience in the financial sector, ideally in a regulatory focused role.

  • Highly developed analytical skills.

  • Strong resilience, with the ability to pursue items or required change.

  • Strong attention to detail and embraces a ‘Right First Time’ mentality.

  • Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner and share information/new ideas with other team members.

Description:

About this role:

The Operations Associate is seen as a subject matter expert and therefore will need to be able to perform all operational activities in ABL and treasury operations activities in IF/CF. The role is accountable for reviewing existing processes, seeking automation and simplification initiatives, leveraging Global Operations expertise available. The post-holder will be able to utilize available data & metrics to drive change/efficiency and be accountable to deliver with minimal supervision on small to medium projects, working to set timelines and ensuring appropriate progress reporting and escalation communication.

The Operations Associate will play a key role within the Operations function and be able to make key decisions (within their remit), resolve queries from the front line, build longstanding relationships, communicate and influence across the EMEA organization (Risk, Commercial, Controllership & IT) as well as being the key point of contact for audits and business process mapping activities.

(Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required)


In this role, you will:

  • Ensure ABL client advances are made each day within cut off times and monitoring ABL client cash balances using external bank platforms.
  • Use WF systems and SWIFT messaging to control and collect client cash so that it can be posted to client loans.
  • Have the ability to perform all IF/CF funding, forecasting, customer bank account management activities and administration of user access to external bank accounts for clients and team members.
  • Ensure timely resolution of bank reconciliation items.
  • Be seen as subject matter expert being able to resolve queries from front line partners or external banking partners.
  • Be the main point of contact for internal & external audits, control testing by internal stakeholders, and Business Process Mapping activities.
  • Raise concerns, improvement ideas, establish clear actions & follow ups.
  • Identify training and process improvement needs to further enhance the internal and/or external customer experience ensuring accurate & timely processing and query resolution. Escalating internally & cross functionally as and when required.
  • Identify and drive process simplification.
  • Ensure processes are executed and maintained in line with regulatory and WF standards at all times and ensure that records are maintained to the highest standard.
  • Maintain and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Business Continuity Planning to ensure that procedures are updated to reflect operating practices.
  • Work with other departments, including Commercial, Risk and Controllership to maintain and improve awareness and understanding of the Operations requirements.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Operations, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Attention to detail, problem solving attitude, strong organisational skills, improvement mind set, proactive in identifying improvement & efficiency opportunities.
  • Knowledge of Treasury processes would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Ability to work under time pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as a wider Team Member with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make decisions within the agreed boundaries with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with internal and external customers – a strong team player.
  • Able to display a positive attitude and flexible approach to assigned tasks with a desire to learn and grow within the organisation.
  • The ability to establish strong partnerships at all levels and the ability to influence key stakeholdersinternally/externally.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel including ability to create pivot tables to manage and analyze data is essential.

In this role, you will:

  • Complete all daily cash nostro real-time monitoring for settlement status & liquidity blockages per documented procedure & task checklists (monitoring inbound & outbound flows).

  • Advise MCT desk of total amount of outgoing currency required & therefore the funding position daily.

  • Assist MCT in ensuring nostro EOD balances are within agreed thresholds Liaise with relevant Ops teams and MCT in regard to unsettled high value payments.

  • Provide any required advance notification for specific settlements above agreed thresholds to MCT desk as per agreed Liquidity management RACIs.

  • Monitor account systems and advise MCT desks of any shortfall.

  • Execute funding requests from various EMEA Ops teams or MCT desk to move funds across nostros /CSD cash accounts in order to ensure underlying LOB transactions are settled on time.

  • Own & complete daily cash forecasting activities for the various businesses.

  • Act on requests in regard to flattening any excess funding positions as per MCT requests.

  • Execute on various specific Cash management team tasks in regard to the type of business cash being monitored , e.g. for the FX business the team will create & send EOD confirmation if Reg W account need to be funded.

  • Provide daily files with T+1 Cash Flow deals to Treasury for the relevant EMEA entities, aligned to agreed thresholds for the various legal entities.

  • Complete required team owned MIS, including monthly FX Risk Packs for required ALCO meetings.

  • Complete any other recurring or ad-hoc reporting requests as advised by manager or delegate.

  • Carry out proactive checks to ensure monitoring systems have updated accordingly.

  • Partner with MCT & Network management in regard to creation of new Nostro Accounts request to EFIA tool for the EMEA entities being supported.

  • Act as a risk champion, ensure you are meeting all risk expectations of the company including adhering to the Risk management framework, policy & procedures, ensuring emerging & actual risk incidents are flagged to the relevant teams within EMEA Ops & also the BCM group in a timely fashion.

  • Support your team in manager in regard to any process or control reviews carried out by any of the reviewing teams including Internal Audit, EBCE , IT&V.

  • Drive a culture of continuous process improvement .

  • Work with your manager in regard to any change initiatives /projects as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ideally experience in a Cash management Operations role in another Financial institution.

  • Fast learner, strong communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong incident escalation capability.

  • Strong IT & data collation skills, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.

  • Organized with good time management skills Strong prioritization skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and perform well under pressure.

  • Experience of dealing with a variety of internal partners, providing examples of where collaboration assisted with resolving issues.

  • Good understanding of International business including Investment banking & also Lending /commercial banking products and payments.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Able to work in a small team environment and work as a team.

  • Produce and distribute accurate monthly & ad hoc customer facing reporting within timelines. Establish reporting/formatting synergies across Commercial industries and implement where possible automated reports.
  • Build expertise in, and act as key point of contact for customer setups.
  • Take the lead in ensuring BCP processes are in place and tested with remediation actions complete.
  • Proactively share and reach out for best practice across other CDF Operations teams globally to enhance the customer experience and automation, leveraging equivalent teams in the US and other regions.
  • Perform system change UAT related to Business Support Operations processes.
  • Act as key point of contact for any internal or external audit queries or testing.
  • Develop working knowledge and undertake cross-training to support other Operations teams, providing cover during illness and holidays to maintain a strong customer experience.
  • Support cross-functional training and best practice within the Operations Team.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Operations, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Strong problem solving skills – proven record of owning and resolving problems. Ability to identify, define and scale the problem, understand root cause and recommend/implement corrective action and future control measures.
  • Exceptional administrative skills and strong attention to detail – Ability to manage and organise multiple work streams simultaneously, maintaining an excellent degree of accuracy.
  • Exceptional organisational skills – Effective time management in a fast-moving and demanding environment, planning ahead and working to tight deadlines, sharing any roadblocks or delays which can impact the customer or business performance.
