What to Expect

Lead the development and deployment of cutting-edge assembly and test processes for new manufacturing lines in Buffalo, NY. Driving high-quality and efficient production of power electronics for our cars and energy products. We're looking for a skilled manufacturing engineer who can design, develop, and implement innovative manufacturing processes that meet our high-volume production targets.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and develop cutting-edge manufacturing processes that enable high-volume production of products with improved quality, reduced costs, and increased efficiency
  • Deploy manufacturing processes and equipment to high-volume production, through rigorous tool qualification, process documentation, and training
  • Ramp processes to meet high-volume production targets including cycle time, availability, yield, quality, and reliability, and driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Apply a range of manufacturing techniques, including fastening, welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive bonding, and other joining methods, and quality assurance methods such as vision inspection, leak testing, and electrical testing, to ensure products excellence
  • Lead cross-functional teams to tackle complex problems, using rigorous problem-solving methods, data-driven decision making, and collaborative leadership to drive results
What You’ll Bring
  • 2-10 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar, with direct responsibility for developing, deploying, ramping, and optimizing complex assembly processes in automated high-volume production environments
  • Experience with lean and six sigma principles, including proficiency in tools such as DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process Capability Analysis (PCA), statistical process control (SPC), and Kaizen
  • Proficiency in data querying, analysis, and visualization using tools like MySQL, Python, R, JMP, or Tableau to make data-driven decisions and drive business results.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for the equipment performance and improvement of multiple assigned production processes
  • Sustain 24 by 7 production operations through responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Active participant of cross functional teams while taking on improvement projects to assist in improving the factoy and diagnose equipment failures, finds root cause and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness
  • Lead equipment upgrades with a focus on serviceability, reliability and process capability
  • Develop and improve equipment validation procedures including calibration and qualification
  • Become expert level trainer on all machines in assigned area and be responsible for the level of knowledge of Shift Technicians
  • Provide hands-on support to Maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations
  • Take initiative to create, implement and improve preventative and predictive Maintenance documents and schedules, under the direction of the Maintenance Planner
  • Ability to troubleshoot ladder logic to appropriately identify controls issuesProgram ladder logic (Allen-Bradley, Siemens and Beckhoff). Ability to program and teach industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc) Sequence complex, multi-station machinery for material pick-and-place, dispense, fastening, welding and conveyance applications
  • Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, mprovement working with Spares Department to RMA faulty components and communicate needs to the vendor
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a high volume environment
  • Experience with 2D/ 3D modeling software (AUTOCAD and Solidworks/CATIA preferred)
  • Vision system (Cognex and Keyence preferred) development & qualification experience
  • Experience troubleshooting/teaching Fanuc Robotics
  • Experience commissioning and improving Equipment. Have a demonstrated track record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance activities
  • Experience developing and improving HMI’s and with PLC (Allen Bradley preferred) programming, motion control, safety devices
  • Experience coding/debugging and troubleshooting End of Line Test machines
  • Good understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Safety, Ergonomics, Change Point Management, Spare Parts Management
  • Strong problem solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Able to utilize structured problem solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D). Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions

What to Expect
Tesla Energy is looking for a highly skilled Engineering Technician to sustain battery module line equipment including basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, tester and robot recoveries, and mechanical design using CAD. This role may involve working a night shift schedule, but flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and swing shifts, is required.
What You’ll Do
  • Troubleshoot equipment/process faults on the module line and help recover, report, and escalate when needed
  • Support Engineers in adhoc or planned downtime activities including clear understanding of electrical/mechanical equipment, PLC, troubleshooting, and operation of equipment
  • Help create/modify equipment troubleshooting guides and train operation teams when applicable
  • Support Engineers in submitting and managing orders including vendor communication, obtaining quotes, on and offsite logistics, PO creation, and asset management
  • Audit spares and add/remove items, change minimum quantities, for all equipment in the line
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Mechnical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering development environment
  • Great engineering drawing skills (CAD)
  • Experience with test equipment as well as strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to command the english language both written and verbal
  • Safety oriented – must be able to identify energy sources in order to disable and verify safe through LOTO or other means. Must understand all site hazards and mitigate risk
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills as well as a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, ability to change direction quickly
  • Basic level understanding of PLC and ignition preferred
