What You’ll Be Doing:
With assistance and guidance from qualified Journeymen, the Millwright Apprentice:
Provides support for the testing, repairing, installation and calibration of equipment
Works with and maintains hydraulics and pneumatics, pumps, gear boxes, bearing, seals and alignment of couplings
Provides support in troubleshooting, repairing and making system improvements to ensure quality and efficiencies within the department
Reads and interprets drawings and schematics
Gains knowledge and understanding of welding, rigging and manlifts, chillers, and compressors
Problem solves and troubleshoots as required
Learns and understands process documentation and software requirements, as they relate to the job function
Participates in continuous improvement initiatives
Press appreciation projects (repairs and rebuilds) will be a key focus
Support plant major breakdowns and repairs as needed
Adheres to Johnson Electric’s policies and procedures
Adheres and supports Johnson Electric’s Safety and Environmental policies and practices
Ensure the requirements of the Quality Management System, IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 are conformed to

Apprenticeship requirements include, but are not limited to:
Completing the apprenticeship training standards as established by Ontario Ministry of Training
Participation in the in-class portion of the program, with the balance of the program involving training on-the-job
Progress will be regularly evaluated. Poor performance at any point may result in your removal from the Apprenticeship program
Apply and write the Provincial Examination within one (1) year of completion date of apprenticeship
Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade 12) or equivalent. Successful candidates must provide proof of Grade 12 to Ministry of Training Consultant to become a registered apprentice
Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a Post-Secondary Diploma Program in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical / Manufacturing / Electro-Mechanical / Fluid Powder − Able to prioritize work and deal with a rapidly changing work environment
Able to work independently with minimal supervision & communicate requirements clearly in written and drawing formats
Knowledge of Cincinnati, Dorst, and SMS presses is preferred
Knowledge of tooling and adaption systems
Positive attitude towards new ideas
Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization.

WORK ENVIRONMENT (including Physical Demands):
Conventional day/afternoon/night shift rotation
Willing to work overtime
Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, poor lighting conditions, material, products and byproducts associated with the manufacturing of powered metal components, exposure to metal working fluids, temperatures, and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices, clothing or equipment
Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift, and turn while carrying tools, material and equipment in various parts of the facility. Excessive walking. Operate material handling equipment including cranes, lift trucks chain hoists etc.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Analyzes by troubleshooting, all types of mechanical and related equipment, and making recommendations on a course of action for the repair or replacement of equipment.
Interprets Operating & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, diagrams, schematics, prints and recommends revisions
Organizes, coordinates, and works with external contractors while performing maintenance or repairs to equipment, including the inspection of completed work to ensure it conforms to Regional Standards and industry best practices
Responds to emergency equipment failures, troubleshoots equipment and diagnosing problems, identifies needed resources and makes repair or works with contractors to complete work

Must possess a good understanding of safety practices as mandated under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Must have the ability to understand equipment manufacturers’ schematic drawings to check equipment installation and repairs.
