What you’ll do:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the Natural Resources Middle Office team based in London.

  • Full understanding of how security is taken over transactional collateral.

  • Maintain pristine controls for all aspects of the middle office function to ensure effective risk management for EMEA Trade.
  • Maintain active engagement with Product, Sales and Coverage partners in relation to new customer requirements.
  • Enable EMEA Trade to provide our clients with a "best in class" service through streamlined operations delivery, innovative client solutions, clear, concise and timely responses to queries, Trade related issues and timely escalation of any issues to operations managers.
  • Provide awareness to all managed clients of tools available to them to aid them.
  • Understanding of Tripartite agreements and hedging.
  • Escalate customer feedback, processing delays and errors appropriately.
  • Monitoring of secured transactions and collateral, tracking the lifecycle from purchase to sale.
  • Liaising with warehouse companies, clients and counterparties.
  • Ensure the team maintain clear and concise positions in Triquesta per customer detailing transactional financing exposures and status of outstanding transactions ensuring that facility utilisation requests from clients fall within the agreed credit parameters.
  • Ensure approval requests are received for transactions that fall outside the approved criteria.
  • Report accurate positions for transactional financing per obligor and client group to the relevant Natural Resources Transactors adhering to Citibank's risk management policies and procedures.
  • Identify any potential efficiencies and opportunities to automate/digitise.

What we’ll need from you:

  • Relevant years of experience in a related senior level role with experience in managing a trade middle office team
  • Commodities Middle Office knowledge and experience
  • A strong understanding of Trade related functions and processes.
  • Knowledge of applicable Operational Policies / procedures / Control Standards
  • Excellent Client Services skills
  • Ability to work effectively in situations requiring analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving techniques
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills; ability to build and maintain effective networks and relationships

The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is a cornerstone of Citi Controllers. VCG is responsible for the independent valuation control of Citi’s traded inventory, as well as other areas where fair value principles need to be applied, such as PRA/ECB Prudent Valuation requirements. The group is organised into global product aligned teams and specialised functions such as Reporting, Valuation Methodology & International, and Design & Execution.

The key responsibilities of the group are to perform the independent price verification for traded inventory, calculate valuation adjustments, ensure appropriate valuation governance, and conduct new trade reviews.

The responsibilities of the team are to:

  • Ensure Citi has the most appropriate and complete valuation control framework across all areas of price verification, valuation adjustments and wider valuation governance. This includes all aspects of overarching Policy, Standards, Procedures and Methodologies, covering both accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the department in its US and International regulatory engagements and exams, as well as managing external and internal audits, and any remediation efforts.
  • Ensure there is strong oversight of valuation controls across all International legal entities, along with the associated regulatory responsibilities, working in close partnership with local controllers and our wider legal entity stakeholders.

The individual will be responsible for delivering valuation projects to address regulatory findings from Citi’s regulators, responding to new and emerging valuation practices and contributing to VCG’s delivery of strategic group-wide transformation initiatives.

Cross-Asset Methodology:

Developing cross-asset valuation methodologies/models and responding to new and emerging valuation practices.

Ensuring VCG’s compliance with critical firmwide policies, including model risk management policy and associated controls.

This individual must be able to understand how to implement strong and effective governance.

The priorities of this individual will be set by Global Head of Valuation Policy, which may include regulatory obligations, so there will be crucial deadlines that will need to be achieved.

  • Experience in a valuation, risk or product control related discipline.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the Natural Resources Middle Office team based in London.
  • Manage the day-to-day client contact and handling of client issues relating to Letters of Credit, Cash against documents and other Trade Services products with proactive follow up with the respective Operations; Sales; Product Management teams.
  • Full understanding of how security is taken over transactional collateral.
  • New client on boarding and management. Work in partnership with Implementations; Sales; Product and Technical Partners.
  • Maintain pristine controls for all aspects of the middle office function to ensure effective risk management for EMEA Trade.
  • Maintain active engagement with Product, Sales and Coverage partners in relation to new customer requirements.
  • Enable EMEA Trade to provide our clients with a "best in class" service through streamlined operations delivery, innovative client solutions, clear, concise and timely responses to queries, Trade related issues and timely escalation of any issues to operations managers.
  • Provide awareness to all managed clients of tools available to them to aid them.
  • Understanding of Tripartite agreements and hedging.
  • Escalate customer feedback, processing delays and errors appropriately.
  • Monitoring of secured transactions and collateral, tracking the lifecycle from purchase to sale.
  • Liaising with warehouse companies, clients and counterparties.
  • Ensure the team maintain clear and concise positions in Triquesta per customer detailing transactional financing exposures and status of outstanding transactions ensuring that facility utilisation requests from clients fall within the agreed credit parameters.
  • Ensure approval requests are received for transactions that fall outside the approved criteria.
  • Report accurate positions for transactional financing per obligor and client group to the relevant Natural Resources Transactors adhering to Citibank's risk management policies and procedures.
  • Identify any potential efficiencies and opportunities to automate/digitise.

What we’ll need from you:

  • Relevant years of experience in a related senior level role with experience in managing a trade middle office team
  • Commodities Middle Office knowledge and experience
  • A strong understanding of Trade related functions and processes.
  • Knowledge of applicable Operational Policies / procedures / Control Standards
  • Excellent Client Services skills
  • Ability to work effectively in situations requiring analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving techniques
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills; ability to build and maintain effective networks and relationships
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing processes that result in improved business performance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
