Finance Operations Specialist - Accounts Receivable jobs at Booking in Brazil

The role

In this role you will be part of a dynamic, international and fast-paced team, working in the scope of the Enabling Functions (Finance, Strategy, LPA and People) department and part of the dynamic and fast-paced Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, whereby there is a clear emphasis on bridging innovative business strategies into solid financial plans. You will also be involved in reporting and explaining variances versus budget and forecast. Ad-hoc analyses are part of the scope whenever there is a need from the business.

Secondly, you will also work on enhancing processes within our team. Think about standardizing/automating financial reporting or strengthening planning & control processes with other departments like Accounting or Procurement.

Lastly, you will also work on Booking.com broad cost optimization projects. You will be involved in all stages of these projects, from development to execution, in close cooperation with other Business Controllers, the Business, and relevant teams outside of FP&A.

Due to the rapid and continuous growth of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves.

This role requires a dynamic and proactive person with strong analytical and communication skills. This position is based in our headquarters in Amsterdam.

Responsibilities

• Support both the short and long-term business planning process to create solid financial plans for key enabling function departments;

• Work with accounting and business teams on month-end close to accurately report business results and provide insightful explanatory commentary;

• Provide reporting in an insightful and actionable way to the departmental leadership, including business performance presentations for all close and planning cycles;

• Proactively deliver intelligence based on data and support and advise your business partners on identified opportunities;

• Perform ad-hoc analysis, scenarios and benchmarking as needed and contribute to new business/expansion/cost control projects and process improvement as needed;

• Continuously seek ways to simplify and enhance our planning and control processes;

• Understand what drives (financial) success for the different sub departments and develop measures for these drivers.

• Work closely with procurement on contract approval and savings validation process for enabling functions.

Skills and Experience

• 1-3 years of similar working experience;

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or other related field;

• Additional professional certification (CPA/RC/CIMA/CMA) or studying is a plus;

• Medium-to-advanced knowledge of Excel, VBA is a plus;

• Comfortable in working with large sets of numbers data; strong analytical skills;

• Strong written / verbal communication skills in English, and comfortable in presenting their work;

• A reliable and strong team player who can also work independently;

• Affinity for financials systems and willingness to learn new things, SAP skills are a plus;

• Ability to listen carefully, evaluate, and find opportunities of improvement;

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and deliver tasks in a timely manner;

• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and in an unstructured environment;

• Ability to be a reliable, hands-on deliverer of quality results;

What You'll Be Doing:

• Timely and professional case management and coordination of high risk/complexity claims or complaints arising from Travelers or Partners taking through to a final resolution. Prevents negative brand and financial impacts. These topics included but are not limited to; Legal issues from. government and authorities requests. i.e. crime and abuse, employee threats, incident reports, escalations from influential accounts and media/press cases.
• Building and maintaining strong customer and stakeholder relationships, whilst liaising with third parties who are acting on behalf of the Customer for example, national Consumer Union organizations, Consumer platforms, lawyers, insurance, small court claims, Partner mediation process and attorney general office.
• Working collaboratively with other internal departments and teams to ensure diligent investigations are undertaken and relevant information is obtained relating to claims or complaints. Escalating where necessary (in line with Matrix), and acting on behalf of Booking.com with any third parties.
• Using sound judgment and decision making as to when to defend, settle or reject claims. Taking appropriate actions with fines and sanctions, handling invoices, creating and processing payments in line with procurement.
• Serves as an expert team-member that supports other CoE roles with questions, handles cases that deviate from standard screens and procedures, and creates guides as required to help drive continuous improvements.
• Analysis of data, Identifying patterns and trends to feedback and share across the team and with relevant stakeholders appropriately, generating ideas for improvements to benefit the function and/or customer experience.
• Provide accurate, valid and complete information to Travelers, Partners, internal departments and external parties by using the right tools, methods and processes to ensure a consistent approach. Ensure that communications adhere to privacy regulations. Adopting the right behaviors as per Booking.com values and culture mindsets.
• Participates in temporary operational projects on a voluntary basis as required. Provides regular constructive feedback on our ways of working, processes and frameworks to drive continuous improvements, offering ideas through to solutions.
• Maintain a good understanding of processes, policies and procedures within Customer Services, CoE and Specialisms and keep regularly up to date with any changes.
  Works to Set Objectives, service standards and targets based on Company Priorities along with deadlines set from external parties.
  Responsible for ensuring regulation (legal) and compliance is met for the business unit
