The process involves identifying an activity pertaining to Anti Money Laundering. The process includes 4 phases, Onboarding, Due diligence, Refresh and Offboarding. It interacts with various downstream systems which act as the actual system of record, retrieves, aggregates, runs the rules, flag for either Green, Red or Amber

Responsibilities:

  • Database Engineering & Optimization
    • Design, develop, and optimize complex PL/SQL procedures, packages, and triggers to support critical banking applications.
    • Perform SQL and database performance tuning for transaction-heavy systems.
    • Ensure data integrity, scalability, and high availability across enterprise banking databases.
  • Automation & Scripting
    • Develop robust Unix shell scripts to automate data feeds, file movements, job scheduling, and system monitoring.
    • Create Python-based automation utilities for process optimization, data validation, and reporting workflows.
    • Integrate multiple systems (Oracle, flat files, APIs) for seamless data processing in batch and real-time modes.
  • Data Integration & Reporting
    • Collaborate with BI and reporting teams to design ETL pipelines using SSIS/SSRS and support Tableau dashboards.

Process Overview*

Global Markets Business Finance & Control (BF&C) is a division of Global Banking & Markets (GBAM) Finance responsible for the production and independent validation of Global Markets' profit and loss and balance sheet. The team is also responsible for running valuation controls to ensure fair value of balance sheet in accordance with internal valuation methodology and regulatory requirements. This includes independent price verification of both vanilla securities/derivatives and complex/illiquid assets such as exotic derivatives and distressed assets. Additionally, the team also calculates relevant valuation adjustments including adjustments for illiquidity, concentration, model limitations etc. as applicable. The team is also responsible for calculating and reporting prudential valuation adjustments on a quarterly basis.

Responsibilities*

  • Performing the calculation and analysis of valuation controls including IPV, valuation adjustments and prudent valuation adjustments, as well as ownership for Fair Value Hierarchy levelling.
  • Working with the Global Valuation Group to ensure ongoing review & enhancement of valuation control methodologies and practices.
  • Ensuring procedure documents are accurate and up to date.

Description:

Process Overview:

AML KYC process deals with performing the onboarding of institutional clients that includes Global Banking and Global markets. It involves performing the KYC Process and enhanced client due diligence leveraging the product called as AWARE (Anti Money Laundering Workflows and Rules Engine). The process involves identifying an activity pertaining to Anti Money Laundering. The process includes 4 phases, Onboarding, Due diligence, Refresh and Offboarding. It interacts with various downstream systems which act as the actual system of record, retrieves, aggregates, runs the rules, flag for either Green, Red or Amber

Responsibilities:

  • Database Engineering & Optimization
    • Design, develop, and optimize complex PL/SQL procedures, packages, and triggers to support critical banking applications.
    • Perform SQL and database performance tuning for transaction-heavy systems.
    • Ensure data integrity, scalability, and high availability across enterprise banking databases.
  • Automation & Scripting
    • Develop robust Unix shell scripts to automate data feeds, file movements, job scheduling, and system monitoring.
    • Create Python-based automation utilities for process optimization, data validation, and reporting workflows.
    • Integrate multiple systems (Oracle, flat files, APIs) for seamless data processing in batch and real-time modes.
  • Data Integration & Reporting
    • Collaborate with BI and reporting teams to design ETL pipelines using SSIS/SSRS and support Tableau dashboards.
    • Work closely with compliance and risk teams to automate AML/KYC data workflows, transaction monitoring reports, and exception handling.
  • Banking Systems Support
    • Troubleshoot and resolve database or data integration issues affecting core banking and financial systems.
    • Support audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory data submissions.
    • Maintain documentation for processes, data flows, and technical specifications.
  • Collaboration & Leadership
    • Partner with cross-functional teams—business analysts, risk, compliance, and IT—to deliver end-to-end solutions.
    • Mentor junior developers and promote best practices in database and scripting standards.
  • Gen AI & Prompt Engineering/Co Pilot
    • It is good to have an experience in Gen AI/Prompt Engineering
    • Ability to seamlessly leverage GITHUB Co Pilot
    • Nice to have fundamentals of ML

Education:B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech/M.C.A.

08-10+ years

Foundational Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in banking or financial services technology.
  • Strong expertise in Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL development with proven performance tuning experience.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripting for automation and job orchestration.
  • Advanced Python programming experience for data manipulation, API integration, and automation.
  • Exposure to ETL tools (SSIS/SSRS) and data visualization (Tableau).
  • Deep understanding of data structures, normalization, and query optimization techniques.
  • Gen AI & Prompt Engineering/Co Pilot
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to Lead the team Technically, Code Review/Design reviews and groom/mentor folks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS RDS/Redshift, Azure SQL, Snowflake) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
