What will you do in this role:
Provide first line investigation and gather information to enable incident resolution and allocate incidents.
Develop, document and implement changes based on requests for change. Apply change control procedures, tools, techniques and processes to manage and report on change requests.
Monitor operational systems for resource usage and failure rates, to inform and facilitate system software tuning. Apply system software parameters to maximize throughput and efficiency.
Carry out routine operational procedures, amend and execute specified and existing automation tools/scripts and tasks under supervision to gain a basic understanding of the scripting language/automation tools.
Analyse service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability.
Apply techniques to control the demand upon a particular resource or service and contribute to capacity modelling and planning.
Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor simple programs/scripts. Identify and evaluate alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability.
Apply tools, techniques and processes to administer, track, log, report on and correct configuration items, components and changes. Assist with audits to check the accuracy of the information and undertake any necessary corrective action under direction.
Prepare design options for the working environment of methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and people. Select system and software life cycle working practices for software components and micro-services.
Create and document detailed designs for simple software applications or components. Identify alternative design options and seek guidance when deviating from established design patterns.
Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the project manager.
Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.
What should you have:
3+ Experience in infrastructure automation (AWS, AutoSys, Ansible, RDS, EC2, Lambda, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Step Functions).
Familiarity with networking, troubleshooting, and performance issues.
Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, etc.).
Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
Experience with disaster recovery, data backup solutions, and virtualization platforms.
Maintains current industry knowledge of cloud native concepts, best practices, and technologies
Industry experience in Bio-Science, Healthcare, Pharma, Retail, and Logistics will be plus.
AWS certification preferred.
