What You'll Do
- Act as the primary point of contact for all tax matters in five EMEA countries, including two key (star) markets Germany and Spain.
- Coordinate and lead responses to tax audits and queries from local tax authorities, working closely with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business, providing timely guidance to relevant teams.
- Collaborate with other teams such as Legal, Policy and Ops to assess tax implications of new business initiatives.
- Support global and regional tax planning efforts, ensuring alignment with Uber’s overall tax strategy while managing local risks.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives.
What You'll Need
- Strong technical tax expertise with 8+ years of experience in international and/or regional corporate tax, preferably within a multinational environment or Big 4 firm.
- Proven experience managing direct and indirect tax matters across multiple EMEA jurisdictions, including tax controversy and advisory.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills , with the ability to act as a trusted advisor and collaborate effectively across finance, legal, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep expertise in European tax legislation , particularly in Germany and Spain, with hands-on experience navigating complex tax environments in these jurisdictions.
- A proactive, strategic mindset with a track record of identifying tax planning opportunities and driving process improvements.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, tech or platform-based business , with the agility to adapt to constant change and cross-functional dynamics.
- Strong project management skills , including the ability to lead audits, manage multiple stakeholders, and drive initiatives to completion with minimal oversight.
