In this role, you will:
  • Be responsible for ensuring that our merchandising techniques (and related technical approach) are aligned with consumer expectations, developing turn-key merchandising capabilities, and establishing efficient and effective execution for merchandising programs
  • Build and lead a team of Technical Merchandisers and Merchandising Operations, based in the U.S.
  • Set the vision for the team, define annual objectives, key results and roadmaps
  • Be accountable for your team achieving key results and setting up the appropriate recurring review processes to ensure your team is on track
  • Ensure obstacles to launching key projects are addressed for your team. You will elevate opportunities and challenges with solutions to improve efficient and effective output, as needed
  • Work closely as ‘one team’ with your Merchandising peers and build strong partnerships across Consumer and Studio Product Management, including leadership
  • Be responsible for your team's development and growth
  • Be willing to roll up your sleeves and lead and execute on key projects
Team Responsibiltiies:
  • Lead the vision and requirements for merchandising configurations and capabilities - working across Consumer and Studio Product management to integrate merchandising requirements into overall core roadmaps and partner on their development.
  • Once vision and requirements are developed, work with Performance managers to integrate experimentation frameworks and performance evaluation. Ensure broader team adopts the capabilities and deeply understands the requirements to utilize.
  • Own and champion merchandising guidelines and principles and when/how merchandising modules are used. Your team will be responsible for ensuring that the guidelines and principles are maintained.
  • Understand the technical capabilities and limitations of our product and use this knowledge to determine how we best support business needs. Be a central point of contact for all tasks related to merchandising capabilities.
  • Have a deep understanding of personalization as it relates to content recommendations and merchandising and their intersection with consumer expectations. Your team will partner closely with Personalization teams on how to evolve relevant recommendation systems based on consumer needs and merchandising goals.
  • Be responsible for overall program prioritization, execution, and tracking - build the relevant processes and ensure adoption of them across Merchandising team
  • Collaborate with a team of stunning colleagues across product management, consumer insights, data science to develop great merchandising experiences
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in merchandising development and operations within an app - either in product or in a support function; must have people management experience and ideally built out a similar team from its foundation
  • Required to grasp technical concepts quickly - including how products ‘work’ (technical stack), how to innovate and develop new opportunities
  • Must have experience in developing scaled merchandising modules for products
  • Experience in merchandising performance management a plus
  • Experience in understanding recommendation systems a plus
  • Experience in developing self-service tooling a plus
  • Strategic, analytical thinker with a strong customer-focused mindset
  • Must have experience directly managing a team
  • Excellent written (memos and presentations) and verbal communication skills; timely communication
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive alignment amid ambiguity
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and effectively influence and contribute with concrete recommendations/next steps, across both regional and global teams
  • Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success
  • Insatiable curiosity to learn new domains, keep up with industry innovation, and constantly ask ‘why’
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $320,000 - $800,000.
