Ensure Process Safety Management, Risk Management Program compliance requirements and Tesla EHS policies, standards, procedures, and chemical process hazard guidelines are all met
Facilitate Risk Assessments: HAZID, HAZOP, Equipment Safety Reviews, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Offsite Consequence Analysis (OCA), FMEA studies, Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) and health risk reduction studies and recommend risk mitigation measures for identified hazards
Support EHS event investigations, operational learning, and emergency preparedness activities
Administer the site EHS Management of Change (MOC) and chemical approval and inventory program
Lead efforts for modeling scenarios and working with external consultants/ partners as needed to conduct modeling such as CFD, FDS, PHAST, Canary, iPRISM, ALOHA, and other risk modeling tools
Lead/Assist other engineers in various process safety calculations related to e. g. the design of new emergency relief systems, the evaluation of existing emergency relief system designs, dispersion analysis, flammability analysis, Electrical Area Classification (EAC)
Support startup (PSSR) and equipment commissioning operations through creative problem solving to meet aggressive timelines while maintaining safe and compliant operation
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Safety, Chemical, Mechanical, or closely related industry), M.S. preferred; or equivalent. CFSP/CFSE, CSP, CHMM, RSO, LSO, CIH certification(s) a plus
At least 5 years of related work experience in process safety management
Experience leading or facilitating PHAs, HAZOPs, DHAs and Risk Assessments
Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MSHA, and TCEQ regulations
Ability to read and understand Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Architectural permit sets, CAD drawings
