Job responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
  • Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation
  • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
  • Holds accountability decisions that influence teams’ resources, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains; influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Manage one to two teams in an agile environment
  • Work with Java/J2EE, REST APIs, Web Services, Spring Framework and AWS Services in public cloud infrastructure (S3, Terraform, PostgreSQL DB, ECS, Fargate, etc)
  • Hire, develop and recognize high performing talent

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience
  • Experience leading technology projects
  • Experience managing technologists
  • Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
  • Experience in Java/J2EE, REST APIs, Web Services, Spring Framework and AWS Services in public cloud infrastructure (S3, Terraform, PostgreSQL DB, ECS, Fargate, etc)
  • Strong management experience in a large scale agile environment

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working at code level
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • AWS Cloud experience
