Key ResponsibilitiesAs a design engineer located at the LNG Coil Wound Heat Exchanger manufacturing facility in Florida, you will serve as a primary technical liaison between the Design and Manufacturing teams within the LNG business. You will also be responsible for planning and executing field inspections and repairs on LNG pressure vessels already in operation at customer sites around the world.
- Design for pressure vessel static and dynamic external loads including wind, seismic, transportation, and blast.
- Coordinate design of pressure vessel internal piping, external piping, and supporting structures (including modules and cold boxes) with other engineering disciplines.
- Perform Code and structural pressure vessel calculations per industry standards and customer requirements (e.g., ASME BPVC Section VIII, Div 1-2).
- Generate procedures for inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of pressure vessels.
- Work with Designers to support development of vessel 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials.
- Support technical management of the Port Manatee supply chain via technical qualification and performance management of material and subassembly suppliers.
- Provide rapid support to the Port Manatee Manufacturing team, resolving technical issues, providing technical training, troubleshooting design challenges, and interfacing with other disciplines includes Quality Control, Project Management, Procurement, and Production.
- Serve as mechanical engineering lead on aftermarket field service teams, traveling to customer LNG facilities to perform inspections and repairs.
- Support new project bid development by writing the mechanical scope of supply for new contracts, addressing customer technical inquiries, and defining project technical risk mitigations.
- Generate and execute technical risk identification and mitigation plans for new projects, product offerings, and manufacturing methods.
- Update calculation templates, procedures, and guidelines to ensure Manufacturing team feedback is accurately captured and used to improve designs for safety and manufacturability.
- Participate in rootcause analysis, data reviews, and Continuous Improvement initiatives to driveimprovements in manufacturing cost and schedule.
- Engage in occasional domestic and international travel to the Honeywell LNG HQ in Pennsylvania, customer engineering offices, and customer natural gas liquefaction facilities.
The position requires occasional domestic and international travel (15-20% travel expected)
YOU MUST HAVE- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- 5+ years of related design or mechanical engineering experience
WE VALUE- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related technical discipline with accredited ABET degree)
- Experience with CAD applications such as such SolidWorks or MicroStation
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS, SolidWorks, or similar
- Proficiency in MathCad and Microsoft Office Tools
- Experience is ANY of the following are a plus:
- Design of pressure vessels, piping, and/or welded assemblies
- Heat exchanger technology (cryogenic and high temperature)
- Mechanics of materials/structural analysis
- ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (COMPRESS or PVElite)
- ASME/ASTM material standards for carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- AWS welding code or similar
- Field experience inoil/gas/energy operating facilities
- Proficiency in pressure vessel and piping design tools, e.g., COMPRESS, PVElite, AutoPIPE
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS
