Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assess memory component devices quality and reliability for use in SSD products.
  • Memory components include DRAM, Serial Flash and EEPROM.
  • Prepare status updates for Manufacturing Readiness Reviews; escalate supplier readiness issues with Quality, Engineering, Commodity Management and Production to determine resolution.
  • Management of memory component suppliers: initiating and coordinating meetings regarding technology reviews/roadmaps and issues between Procurement, Design Engineering and suppliers.
  • Qualify memory component devices for use in WD products, conforming to all requirements.
  • Confirm DRAM component supplier reliability demonstration testing.
  • Participate in WD product FAs to determine the cause of the failure due to Memory Component or not .
  • Drive supplier FA of DRAM components, utilizing 8D method to determine the root cause hypothesis, validate failure hypothesis, identify escape cause, and implement corrective actions, as well as preventative actions.
  • Track supplier continuous improvement activities to eliminate common failure modes.
  • Research new suppliers and technology roadmaps to assist selection of future memory Component.
  • Review supplier process change notices and work cross-functionally to disposition.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor, or Masters degree in related field e.g. Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or equivalent.

3 to 7 years of working experience with Electrical Component product engineering in a memory design house and supplier management. Involving Semiconductor packaging, DRAM, EEPROM and Serial Flash will be a plus. Hands-on experience in process, test, and quality. Experience in SSD FA, ASIC, PMIC or passive devices product engineering is an added advantage.

Required Skills:

  • Good English communication skill is a must.
  • Supplier Process Audit Skills – Critical ability to inspect and identify strengths / weaknesses of supplier production and test processes.
  • Quality System Audit Skills - Familiar with ISO/Industry requirements.
  • Problem Solving – Lead and investigate complex problems, gather relevant data, define appropriate analysis to identify root cause, followed by solution options for evaluation and implementation.
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking – Analyzing information statistically and using logic with critical thinking to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Component Validation - Knowledge of memory component testing, measurement, and inspection methods to evaluate performance, quality, and reliability.
  • Industry Standards – Strong familiarity with electrical device standards: JEDEC, IPC, IEC, MIL, AEC-Q, ASME
  • Quality methodologies - Experience with ISO9001, and IATF16949 etc.
  • Management Skills – Coordinate supplier readiness status within SQE organization and compile summaries in alignment with product life cycle development milestones.
  • Behavior – Self-motivated with ability to effectively multi-task and work independently.
