Overview of the Role:

You will hire and build out our SRE team, building a modern and best in class capability to proactively ensure the stability, resilience and scale of our services for our clients.

Engineering excellence and secure by design are important principles for our CISO organization. You will inspire the team to raise the bar on both our existing products but also the frameworks and capabilities that are engineered within the SRE team.

Partnership and collaboration are key. You will work closely with the existing Engineering and Operations teams, as well as senior leadership, to gain buy in for your approach building out the SRE capability alongside evangelizing SRE best practice and techniques for the wider organization. Reducing TOIL will be paramount to your success.

What the role covers:

• Create and deliver a SRE programs for Cloud Security providing a best-in-class capability
• Recruit, build and lead a SRE team covering the Cloud Security portfolio, starting with Container Security and gradually expanding
• Provide leadership and guidance across the SRE team, thought leadership across the wider CISO organisation for SRE.
• Manage multiple stakeholders across Engineering, Operations and CISO Leadership, as well as partner teams within the wider Citi organisation
• Actively owning production level incidents till resolution

Job Skills/ Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 12+ years of relevant work experience
• Certification or formal training in site reliability engineering concepts and practices
• Experience leading SRE teams at scale with demonstrable results with wider experience in training, developing, and retaining talent.
• Prior experience of building and managing SLIs, SLOs and observability capabilities at a large scale.
• Highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to communicate efficiently at all levels of seniority to create change.
• 10+ years experience in Python (preferable) or Java, on large scale systems
• Experience of k8s and container technologies such as Docker, Openshift and EKS.
• Experience in building and leading teams, mentoring junior team members and championing their work.
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams. Highly effective navigating large and complex organisations.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
• Experience working in CISO or security led organizations desirable
