Your impact

The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance safety, reliability and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and utility transformation to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future. We have multiple positions available for power systems engineers seeking to apply and grow their skills working closely with our utility clients and operations teams as we expand our energy transition portfolio across the United States and Canada.

These openings provide the opportunity to engage with our clients to modernize, expand or harden their utility transmission and distributions systems all across North America. Demonstrated abilities include expertise with a primary focus on Distribution System Planning & Analysis.

Your primary responsibilities will focus on:

  • Perform a diverse range of system planning, modeling, analysis, and project-focused engineering tasks. These may include Distribution Automation/FLISR, Volt-Var Optimization (VVO), non-wire alternatives, integration of battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, microgrids, or other emerging technologies.
  • Develop plans and methodologies for the technical execution of projects aimed at addressing aging distribution infrastructure and the integration of DER technologies to improve reliability and resiliency of the distribution power system.
  • Provide guidance, knowledge, and expertise to other electrical engineers conducting power system power flow, transient stability, and short circuit analyses
  • Prepare reports and summaries on the studies conducted to be easily understood by individuals from technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Review work of technical support staff to ensure accuracy, achievement of required results, and adherence to accepted engineering practices. Identify deficiencies and recommend process and project improvements.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve a wide range of engineering problems, many of which are complex and atypical in nature.
  • Lead the execution of technical studies and develop methodologies for execution, ensuring that studies and projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
