Job responsibilities
  • Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications
  • Resolves most nuances and determines appropriate escalation path
  • Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems
  • Drives the daily activities supporting the standard capacity process applications
  • Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
  • Provides high level and detailed consulting as network subject matter expert for major Core projects to deliver design proposals and helps plan network activities.
  • Performs large scale network planning; plans, designs and implements infrastructure projects, technical processes and procedures as they relate to network engineering.
  • Plans, schedules, and creates change control records and performs configuration of network elements in a large-scale networking environment in conjunction with change control policies and procedures.
  • Performs Tier 4 support functions for network problems in accordance with problem management process which may involve problems in network as well as other managed devices and services.
  • Maintains network support documentation including Global network maps, drawings, and traffic flow diagrams.
  • Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Strong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
  • Strong knowledge of one or more scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds
  • Drives to develop infrastructure engineering knowledge of additional domains, data fluency, and automation knowledge
  • Advanced Level of Networking Skills; extensive knowledge of routing and switching, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, multicast.
  • Basic Level of Network diagnostic methods, tools, and interpreting packet captures
  • Basic Level of Security and Risk exposure assessments and mitigation
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • CCNP, CCIE with extensive knowledge of:
    • Enterprise class routers (Cisco ASR, GSR, CRS-1)
    • Cisco IOS software including exposure to IOS XR
    • MPLS -roles of P, PE, CE, VRFs, etc.
    • Routing Protocols BGP, OSPF, and ISIS
    • Other technologies -NAT, Multicast, QoS
  • Basic Optical Technologies: DWDM, PoS, Ethernet
