The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Product Sustainability Data Lead
    • Lead data gap closure to enable PIA to generate LCA information;
    • Serve as point person between division and Corporate on product sustainability;
    • Scope and manage non-conventional LCAs, Product Carbon Footprints, and Environmental Product Declarations;
    • Educate and guide CBT on Sustainable Value Commitments and potential marketing claims;
    • Coordinate responses to customer requests for sustainability data;
    • Facilitate Sustainability Circles to educate division on Sustainability topics
  • Product Engineer:
    • Develop product and process understanding of developing space film product(s);
    • Maintain product through required formulation and specification changes;
    • Ensure alignment with Business Supply Chain regarding experiments and production runs.
  • Collaborate with Packaging Solutions:
    • Establish legacy claims on recycled content of packaging
    • Advance Sustainable packaging efforts

Your Skills andExpertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the followingqualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in chemistry, or chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of combined experience in a Sustainability related role in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Five (5) years of combined experience in a Sustainability related role in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent chemical and/or mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills; practical and hands-on, with analytical comprehension and data driven decision making
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Statistical Analysis
  • Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams from multiple locations and divisions
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and change
  • Master’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in chemistry, or chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution

  • Hybrid (3 days in office)
