As Associate or Vice President at Positioning Intelligence team you will publish regular reports 1-2 times/week as well as tactical and thematic updates around key market developments. You will analyse a wide range of positioning-related metrics covering topics such as sector, region, and factor tilts, leverage, flows, strategy differences, performance, alpha, and crowding. Increasingly, your work is becoming more cross-investor and cross-asset in nature. In addition, you will need to communicate the team’s findings with clients and be able to develop relationships with external clients and internal colleagues.

Job responsibilities

  • Track key market moves and various positioning metrics to help the team provide insights to clients and investors
  • Work with the existing Positioning Intelligence team to write regular global Positioning content, assessing our own Prime positioning data sets, plus positioning / flows across our broader equities business, and via third party sources
  • Communicate effectively with external clients and internal colleagues: discuss team’s recent notes and how findings tie into market trends, learn the tendencies and desires of clients / colleagues, develop means to strengthen client relationships
  • Work closely with quant research and technology to ensure data sets are well maintained
  • Automate and help build scale to enhance our ability to respond to increasing client demands
  • Be open to innovation within this space, challenging assumptions and finding new ways to analyze the data

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Very high level of intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills, and ability to work independently
  • Persistent work ethic and attention to detail
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in markets (equity, rates, credit, commodities) and data analytics.
  • Strong technical and mathematical skills, coding is a plus (e.g. python, VBA, SQL, etc.)
  • Proven desire to contribute to growing our Global Equities and Prime franchise
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Research, sales and trading, or buy side experience in equities, rates, or credit is a plus

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
