Key job responsibilities
As the manager of Applied Science, you are responsible for defining and executing on the science vision. You will lead teams of scientists and engineers to work backwards from customer needs and translate product ideas into concrete deliverables. You will be the thought leader for inventing scalable AI solutions that support flexible UI frameworks. You will solve hard problems, advance science at Amazon, and be the leading innovator in e-commerce. In this role, you will work with a team of applied scientists, engineers, product managers, and UX designers to shape the future of Amazon shopping. You will be working with massive data and draw insights. Your team’s work is visible to millions of customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- ·Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with specialization in specialization in statistical modeling, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
- 5+ years of working experience in solving machine learning problems and deploying science solutions for large-scale applications
- 2+ years of experience leading a team of scientists and engineers Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with specialization in specialization in statistical modeling, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or personalized recommendation.
- Scientific thinking and the ability to invent, a track record of thought leadership and contributions that have advanced the field
- Strong publication record at top ML conferences and journals
- Experience in delivering science solution for customer-facing features in e-commerce
- Strong verbal and written communications skills; experience presenting complex technical information, succinctly, to technical and non-technical audiences
